Sprint Scotland 3 - Balgay Park. - 2nd

50/50 very nice forest and estate.

Started aggressive in the woods, just point and smash. Had a nice lead coming into the estate. A couple of mistakes where I had the route planned but just ran to the wrong gap on 9 (2s) and 12 (10s).

The buffer I built on Kris in 13 controls got decimated and overturned in one (long) uphill leg to 14 and then I missed 15 after I went off line when flying down the hill.

Great fun though.

Incredibly happy with the weekend. Technically as good as I've ever been really. I'm always going to make mistakes but nice to limit them and have 5 solid races. Physically pretty good, plenty to work on though for the rest of season.

Navigation was good, physically felt awful, was a net uphill course though which doesn't massively suit myself and also first real race of the season for me.

Happy with the result though but a very close bunching behind.

Four of five of the controls weren't woken up which meant it wasn't possible for anyone to hold a gap.
Nearly got literally knocked out as smashed my head into a tree on the first punch tussle.
The 3rd last control wasn't awake so it was just a sprint from there and came =3rd.

180 error out the start for about 2m but then actually got back in front and led mostly 3-8 but we with some splits in the group.
Then Kris came flying past to 9 along with Will and Chris up the hill. Got past Will on the run in for 3rd.

Split to 2 as I led the group on the left choice, ended up even. In 2nd behind Kris then got a better route to 7 so in the lead through to 9. Kris and Nathan missed a gap to 9 so dropped off a bit.
Chris put on his big move up the hill to 10 and I tried to hold but lost around 5-6m and clawed it back to about 1/2m by the line.

Happy with the result and the day as a whole. Maybe not consciously the whole time but made some good decisions and got myself in good positions when I needed to.
