Ennerdale Fell race
https://www.sportident.co.uk/results/CFRA/2021/Enn...One of the ones I had wanted to do for a while and so decided to go for it with it being a champs. I aimed to go out very slow and just have a nice time and enjoy the final descent.
I went out very slow but was possibly still too fast or more likely my legs were never going to cope with that much climb and ascent after doing minimal running and especially hills in last 5 months.
Started struggling a bit already after Red Pike, Jack came past and was flying and I kept with him a bit and probably went a bit too hard on some steep descents which ruined my quads a bit. Slowly drifted backwards over Gable, Kirk and Pillar. A bit of a second wind as it got more runnable and held onto OJ for a while before him and ba-ba flew off.
The last hour was lovely but I was reduced to just cruising it in, never in a serious bonk just legs aching. Gave it some on the last descent as Max was catching which was good as overtook a few people and finished at the front of a little group.
A wonderful race on a lovely day and nice to catch up with some different people but definitely time to do some training before doing too much more racing.
