Scottish Relays

My attempt at Offensiv orienteering failed. Went hard trying to chase Tim. Was careful to 1 and 2 and nailed one but missed 2 by metres and had to get out to relocate and come back in. Loving the terrain and course and was pretty clean until 11 where again was just a few metres away but couldn't work out the mapping/shapes and lost another couple of minutes.

Then another miss in the green at the end when I was on line but saw a big hill and went to it.

At least EUOC won anyway and even if I hadn't missed I wouldn't of caught Tim or even stayed ahead of Shminty with the state of my legs.

Nice shakeout. Felt like a combination of sand dunes/ southern army area. Also thought the town could have a great sprint map as there was loads of paths and alleys/ grass strips as I came back.

Scottish Long Champs Achagour 2nd 7sec behind Nixon.

Was expecting it to be tough with some nice bits in forest. Was a bit more tough than nice but I still enjoyed it. First section in green forest with ridiculous planting ruts which made it so physical as well as technical but kept it clean. Then slogging through the marshes in the open sun was tough. Loved the forest section as it was amazing then died back in the open/bogs again. Legs just aren't strong enough to deal with rough terrain.

Decided to not take any fuel as wanted to take it as a training. This combined with missing the water as it wasn't on my route choice meant I started to bonk pretty bad at the end too.

Loch Vaa training. On the open side. Realised quickly I was pretty tired but wanted to get 60-70 in. Also realised I am not in shape to deal with heather which isn't too surprising after mostly road running all year. Good fun though and nice to practice some orienteering.

Sprintelope at a fairly cruisey tempo pace. Had about 15min off then the meadows 2 mile race. Hung onto Ali for a lap then died then managed a sprint finish at the end.
Tough back to back sessions but good to get done.
