CSC Final Tankersley

Fun area and good course but was just really scrappy with the navigation and not feeling too fantastic. Hopefully be a bit better next weekend.

FRA relays leg 4 for Dark Peak.

The ever reliable Little Rob came in 2nd on first. I was a bit up the hill so saw Kris and Rhys catching Shettleston with a chasing pack of HBT, Carnethy, and Keswick. They got 90 seconds lead by the end and Neil and Matt did fantastic and extended this to 4min.
Warming up was hard as I didn't know how long they would take and we weren't allowed to take extra clothes into the box. I ended up in the box for about 10min and had my cag on and ended up running in it the whole way and I was glad as it was really miserable on the top half of the hill with strong rain and clag all the way down.

I went off having no idea of the gap behind but due to a little out and back I knew I had at least 1 min. Yet I also knew Tom Owens is quite good. So I set off fairly hard and my legs were feeling pretty bad as they had most the week on the run out. I hit the fell though and starting to grind out the climb as I do and feeling okay. Just trying to follow the path (marsh made from all the leg 2 runners) and keep going. Seemed to get through okay and tried to push a bit more when I hit the fence at the top. Punch, turn and now I was waiting to see what lead I had.

It was a lot and I knew at this stage I really should win this one. Yet everyone had told me Tom was an incredible descender and so I wasn't going to give him a chance and flew down the hill (slipping and falling a couple of times) using gravity but never went into screaming quads regime. Took it easy on the brief rocky bit as not to twist or break anything and then just tempo'd along the track at the end. Nice to just run in high fiving the rest of the DP team.

In the end I only lost 30 sec to Tom Owens and 40 to Chris Farrell who won the leg. The rest of the team really put me in a position where I couldn't lose and I didn't. Very happy with that and I also got the fastest descent time of the day and didnt even feel like I was going all out. Nice to confirm my belief that I can hurl myself off a hill. Got a lot of work to do on my uphill if I want to be competitive with the best on the fells.

HFW with a few random efforts.

Felt like crap up the first hill rep and next one and then feeling much better when underfoot conditions got better.
