Lovely long run in the Howgills with GG. Perfect day and once I walked up the first hill I could run all of the ridge. The last 30min were rather painful as my legs felt like giving in.
Very peaceful on the hills with sun out and very little wind.

Really looking forward to this especially after seeing the course. First half was fairly runnable underfoot with a few hills followed by a second half of horrible claggy shoe stealing mud.

Set off fairly sensibly at the start but still overspeed as didn't want to get totally stuck. Then slowly moved through on lap 1 (of 3) and started feeling tired on lap 2 so tried to hold back and at the end I was really starting to struggle. Luckily Aidan then appeared on my shoulder so found some motivation and stuck on him for the next half a lap before moving ahead in the mud.

Probably my best XC race after a fairly good winter. Still a long way off being an orienteer who is a good runner though. Getting there slowly

Well after getting up at 5am and racing unsurprisingly I felt quite tired. Except on the course I rarely felt the fatigue in my legs except for the odd uphill path bit. I think it might have affected me mentally a bit.
I absolutely loved the area and course. It was obvious you really didn't want to leave the paths but with so many the navigation was still very challenging and many times I had to stop and walk for my brain to comprehend what was going on. One big miss at 3 bashing round the wrong bit of crap but after that nothing more than a 20sec miss really.

Lovely long run home over Pentlands. Got excited coming off Allermuir and went quite fast down and then got jelly legs and the rest was a bit of a stumble home

Felt good for first two then tiring for 3 and 4 but at end of 4 got some rough stomach cramps and could barely stand up so just shuffled home and curled up on the floor.

I think it is related to core training. As it is similar muscles and has often happened days after doing tough core. Not totally sure though.
