Assumed it would be a single track but alas, after 4km of track running came 10km of bog hopping and heather brashing before a final reprieve of track running.

Very tough and glad it was clear with no clag as navigation would have been challenging.

Absolutely amazing views over to Sutherland and Cape Wrath.

Easy from Belford to the Holy Island Causeway. Legs a bit stiff but not too bad. Lots of sleep to catch up on Friday night so ok.

Nice to run through Kyloe and Detchant again, would be great to get back out orienteering in here again.

Got back to the car to find myself boxed in to the parking land I'd found. Managed to squeeze out but thought I was stuck.

BG Leg 1 with JackW and Baba

Early start and hadn't really slept due to excitement. Arrived an hour early so nipped over to see Kim Collison head of to his successful 24hour Peak Record attempt. Pottered over to Keswick again and then faffed on trying to get myself together for the support with limited success.

Found another group at Moot Hall who were aiming for quicker than Jack and Nic. At 4am, we were off chasing the other group through Keswick and up Spooney Green Lane. By Latrigg carpark they were far ahead before disappearing in to the cloud to be seen on occasional skylines for the rest of the leg.

Skiddaw came uneventfully before a lack of Lake District-ing had me concerned we were following the right highway down. Calva came and went before I started to feel a bit naff heading up Mungrisedale, ate and drank a fair bit and caught up by the top. Cresting Blencathra, Millar and I were dropping back a little again but Jack had reccied a version the Parachute Line so we had to catch back up. Found the correct line and popped out ahead to warn handover. Great way to spend a morning!

Warkworth to Howick - Hit the coast to start the long route north. Wasn't overly looking forward to this stretch as I thought the previous half was going to be more interesting to run but I was completely wrong. Absolutely gorgeous weather, lush route and views. I need to do this more often.

ahr:141 max:175 shoes: Innov8 212 2017 #3

Longframlington to Warkworth - Nice winding route in the main down the River Aln though the strech in to Warkworth along a straightfarm track for 2miles was a bit dull to finish on.

Cycling 29:10 [1] 11.3 km (2:35 / km) +170m 2:24 / km
ahr:109 max:142

Longframlington to Rothbury got a little sketchy in the greying light as I didn't have any lights.
