Orienteering race 41:30 [4] 6.67 km (6:13 / km) +165m 5:32 / km
shoes: VJ Bold 2017

JK Middle
Had a pretty nice run out made a small miss on #8...being distracted by Spongey. Then started navigating to #18 instead of #17 for a bit. Other than that I was just woeful going uphill. Made obvious when the Willy/BenM/Melk train caught me and promptly dropped me.

Somehow managed to have a half decent result. Felt shocking at the end mind, dizzy and faint.

Running this intensity was a bad call of judgement as it meant I was on the long leg for the relay.

Auchingarich Black

Set off bombed #1, bombed #2 felt rubbish in the legs and head so sacked it off and ran straight to download. Feeling a bit down.

Wallace Memorial Middle

Enjoyed this a fair bit. Though don't like forest sprint events that much at the moment. Made a right hash of #5 running past it and then struggling to relocate which let Lew pass me laughing. Saw him a few more times then spent the rest of the course navigating away behind Tim Morgan

Orienteering warm up/down 17:30 [3] 2.6 km (6:44 / km) +70m 5:56 / km

To and from the start/finish with Lew. Back via the Monument

Scottish Spring Night

Good fun running around Polmaise in the dark. Had a pretty good run technically. Physically not there as per at the moment.

This was the race I was most looking forward to and enjoyed it a lot.

Orienteering warm up/down 17:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:40 / km) +25m 5:26 / km

To and from Lews to the night race. Back via a few controls feeling naff and cold.

What will be one of my morning loops I think. Felt ok in general but still rather meh.

Stopped off at Carter Bar on the way up to Lewis', did a bit of Border hopping and went to a few cairns...pretty nice.

Rock Climbing 1:15:00 [2]

Last time at the Hangar in all likelihood. Moving back to Newcastle tomorrow, woo!
Decent session seemed to fly by but got a bit pumped by the end.

Running 1:59:30 [3] 23.0 km (5:12 / km) +280m 4:54 / km

Midlands at Belvoir Cancelled so Willy took me out for a spin around the sights; Robert's Ban, Nobottle, Harlestone Firs, Harlestone Firs again and Harlestone Firs a bit more.....

Would have preferred to run in Innov8's but they had frozen solid in my car overnight so foot was a getting a bit irritated by the end.
Felt a bit tired towards the end but generally ok, nowehere near where I should be though. More mandated rest so a week off/very easy during my move back north again unless I get too bored.

Irchester Middle Distance Event.
Cool area (bar the loop around the assembly) but just couldn't get the speed up due to the amount of controls. Made two bigger errors #18 as the map wasn't quite right I feel and #32 as I'm a numpty. Enjoyed it though.

Orienteering warm up/down 18:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:00 / km) +25m 5:46 / km
shoes: VJ Bold 2017

Along the road to Irchester and back with Willy, then down to assembly and back.

Trot back from the finish.

Note
(rest day)

Had utter exhaustion after running the last few days.
Think I'm going to go back to the drawing board and stop running during the week. Got two busy weekends before the JK which I want to do but will see how I'm feeling.

Starting to get a bit frustrated, will try get a Dr's appointment next week.

Blackstone Edge on the way back to Liverpool from site. Ticked off the Pennine Way bridge over the M62 - not as inspiring as I thought it would be.
Felt utterly garbage on any incline but ok in the main.

Took the Braydon around Chopwell. Felt somewhat normal tonight. Drank a lot beforehand. ..maybe it's dehydration?

Running 26:35 [3] 5.7 km (4:40 / km) +110m 4:15 / km

Down Dunston and up Lambton. Long day with the drive back up north.
Felt weird initially, think I'm dehydrated, then ok after 5mins or so. Legs a bit achy on the downhill but could be suffering from another hour plus of running so not too bad really.

Edale Champs Race. DNF.

Maybe I should just avoid the first champs race of the season.....

After much persuasion by JackW and some slightly better runs on Thursday and Friday thought I may as well try. Set off and fell in to place up the first climb behind JackW and baba. On Kinder Edge I started to feel a bit naff so eased back for a while and ended up running with Ali Thornton, Sav and JoshW. Hit the flags and felt somewhat better, worked my way up towards Vic, likely running a bit fast here all considered.
Fell backwards again going up Lords Seat and then the ridge was just crap! Struggled on every incline and then couldn't get going again on the downhills either. Luckily on Lose Hill Tierney, Abdelnoor and Mike Barron came past which meant I was sixth counter for AAC. The road through Hope was hell too, then hit Hope Brink and just ground to a halt. There was no strength in my legs at all. Turned around to see Neil Talbott, Chris Arthur and John Rylance catching me so cheered them on and called it a day as there was no point flogging myself anymore.

Happy with what I managed and pleased with my decision to call it a day when I did as I would have been out a long time! Obviously disappointed to have to pull out and hopefully I'll be running well again soon, just need to work out what it is.

Running 40:00 [2] 7.25 km (5:31 / km) +130m 5:04 / km
shoes: Innov8 212 2017 #3

Stopped off at Nesscliffe on the way home after site works in Shrewsbury.
What a cool little place! Lots of steep hills and little trails to follow plus big quarries. Was thinking it would make a good JOK chasing sprint area but its the WMOA CSC heat this weekend.
Then crossed over to the trig point on the Cliffe and back.

Distance a bit of a mapmyrun guess after failing to understand my watch today for some reason. Forgetting to restart it for a couple of minutes twice and managing to save my run at halfway.

Running 45:03 [3] 10.03 km (4:29 / km) +70m 4:20 / km

On the Tyne Valley Railway. Up towards Lambley Viaduct and back. Felt ok. Why do I feel ok today?! Damn body make your mind up. Still think Edale is a bad idea though.

Lobley Hill loop.
Something just isn't there. Felt very achy which is just stupid and chest is tight. Feels like I'm back to the start of November, although body/legs are turning over easier I think.

Erring against Edale now I reckon. 32km hard just seems a bit stupid if I'm not quite right. Will see what happened in November now to try work out how things changed.

Edale is going to be a challenge. Legs, head and chest don't seem to be able to work together at the moment and this felt rather uncomfortable.

Running 28:00 [3] 6.0 km (4:40 / km) +40m 4:31 / km

Around Whickham...eventually.
Felt better than the AM (which wasn't hard) but weak at times. Thought I'd try some strides....again ok but weak.

Note

I'm no good in this weather.

Think my December and January are coming back to bite me a bit also. Major lethargy and exhaustion at the moment.
