Orienteering race 55:04 [5] ** 7.6 km (7:15 / km) +285m 6:06 / km
spiked:25/30c shoes: Walshes 2

Hovingham South Wood Brown 1st (2nd if you count Josh)

Felt really good, ran well all the way round navigation wasn't very hard and spiked most controls.

Shoes gave me a problem though - they knacked my feet at about no.17 so kept stopping to tie them tighter.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3]
shoes: Walshes 2

Saturday Mar 29, 2008 #

Cycling long 45:52 [4] 20.0 km (2:18 / km)

Usual route up to Sunniside and down the back then up and over the hill to Burnopfield and down to Hamsterly Mill. I would have cycled back but the heavens opened and I didn't have a waterproof.

Orienteering race 37:27 [5] *** 4.9 km (7:39 / km) +180m 6:27 / km

Eridge Old Park JK trophy 3rd Leg,

Absolutely awful conditions, the mud made it really slippery in most places and hard running as a result.

Did OK really apart from being slow, one major-ish mistake on no.2 but pretty clean after that. It was a good experience all in all.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3]

Orienteering race 46:28 [5] *** 6.4 km (7:16 / km) +290m 5:55 / km
shoes: Walshes 2

Ashdown Forest, M16 6th

Yet again dissapointed with myself as running too fast took its toll a bit but not too bad again. Crikers beat me by a second so really gutted at that. Navigationally fine made a few stupid route choices and errors but even without them would have still been about 2/3mins down.

Running warm up/down 5:00 [3]

Orienteering race 46:53 [5] **** 6.4 km (7:20 / km) +185m 6:24 / km
shoes: Walshes 2

Leith Hill, M16 8th

Dissappointed with myself felt good fitness wise but that probably made me mess up. I ran way to fast into all the tehnical bits and subsequently made mistakes around the circle.

Although I didn't do too bad, people beat which I didn't want to. Got caught up 2mins by Robin.

Running 26:57 [3] 5.32 km (5:04 / km)

Running warm up/down 1:00:00 [4] 3.25 mi (18:28 / mi) +580m 11:53 / mi
shoes: Walshes 2

Run/jog/walk up to Sergeant Man from New Dungeon Ghyll via Stickle Tarn.
Then after walked/jogged back from Stool End Farm with some stretches

Running hills 2:06:29 [5] 12.63 km (10:01 / km) +780m 7:39 / km
shoes: Walshes 2

Run from Sergeant Man up High Raise, Thunacar Knott, Harrison Stickle, Pike O' Stickle, to Rosset Pike then straight up Bowfell - slightly airy and not really a path - then down the Band to Stool End Farm.

Snow on the ground made running and route finding quite hard especially up Bowfell where I was lucky enough to find another runners prints.

Ran on Bob Graham 23hour pace quite easily but without the first 2.5 legs means nothing really.

Thursday Mar 13, 2008 #

Running 34:04 [3] 6.17 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Asic's

A gentle slow run up and down the bank, then up along front street to fellside then along past the Comp cut through to Broadway and down to Whaggs. then back home.

Surprised at how far it was as I felt I was running really slowly

Running tempo 28:35 [4] 6.32 km (4:31 / km) +75m 4:16 / km
shoes: Asic's

Horrible weather so thought short and fast

Went up Broom Lane and Whaggs lane cut off down Hole Lane to
Fellside Road, down Broadway to Hollinside, along to Oakfield and back home via Kingsway and the top of the park.

Felt really good pushed reasonably hard in places slowed down in others but felt good enough when I got back to go round again...but it was raining harder so decided against it

Absolutely gutted!!!!
Had a really good run, caught up Alex Roberts (4mins) at no.10 and David Malliphant-ish (8mins) except mispunched on the last control. I would have been third as well.

Blodslitet C course (2nd)
Whitbarrow Scar

Was leading at one point on the way to 4! but got ahead of myself and made a mistake in the circle. The course was amazing it seemed like it was gaffled as you thought you were miles ahead of someone then they go into a control just ahead of you. The leader was 15mins ahead but he was Norweigan so doesn't really count, but after that the field was really tightly bunched with 5 competitors within 25seconds of each other. And a sprint finish for 2,3 and 4 with only 2seconds splitting us!
