Wednesday Apr 29, 2009 #

Running (Recovery) 44:00 [1] 6.15 km (7:09 / km) +100m 6:37 / km
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Very gentle jog out to see how my legs faired....They were crap they had absolutly no energy whatsoever had to walk for about 10mins all in all! feeling very worn down at the moment which isn't good hoping a rest will do me good now

http://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/os_routes/show...

Note:Need to clear the route out the top of Ravensworth as there are lots of nettles

Tuesday Apr 28, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Legs are reet sore my hamstrings and left calf are a bit sore should ease by the weekend though will probably jsut try to stay off them too much between now and then

Monday Apr 27, 2009 #

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 1.0 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Just a gentle jog around the track with guys in the year above and a few stretches and stuff
After a little jog

Running race (Tyneside Inter-schools) 10:38 [5] 3.0 km (3:33 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Wanted to beat my pb but after yesterday knew it would be hard, worked out that for 10mins needed to be doing 80s laps
But in the race felt tired, my legs felt a little bit crampy (more warm-up?).
Was on target if not a little bit under 80s/lap at 5.5 laps then legs just felt crap and slowed down quite a bit. Finished 6/8 yeh :P

Given the conditions (rain) and yesterdays fell race I reckon I could beat my pb. May try next week after the FCC depending on what I have to get done

Sunday Apr 26, 2009 #

Fell running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 1.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: Walshes 3

Short jog around a bit and a little set of drills then very little jog after

Fell running race (Cheviot Summit Race) 58:47 [5] 10.43 km (5:38 / km) +628m 4:20 / km
shoes: Walshes 3

Up to Cheviot Summit and back from Langleeford Bridge. 7/55

Was my first ever fell race so wasn't sure about pacing at the start, think that I went off a little too fast at the start but on the first hill settled into a nice rhythm. After the start I was in about 5th place but gradually slipt back over the ascent to about 12th at the top. Then a quick turn around and pelt down the hill picking up 5 places to finish 7th. Really pleased with that the winner equalled the course record of 50:55 so not too far down on that.

there was another 16year running but he looked and ran pro upwards, he finished 4th about 1minute infront

Also what a lovely day it was boiling hot sunshine for the majority with a nice cool breeze. Hope its like this every time :P

Wanted to go out running but think I may have a bit of a cold developing so going to rest up for Sunday's race and monday's tyneside interschools 3km

Thursday Apr 23, 2009 #

Note
(rest day)

Think I may have a rest day after quite a hard past 5days, my legs have been aching all day. Plus I have no clean running kit and two mocks tomorrow so will have to give it a miss and do something tomorrow after school

Wednesday Apr 22, 2009 #

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 3.84 km (5:13 / km)

Did 30/30's
But of this did 50 at about 80% and 10 and 90% was hard and hot but really good

Tuesday Apr 21, 2009 #

Running intervals 30:00 [5] 5.4 km (5:33 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

First intervals session in quite a while. Found that Whickham Comp had painted its track on on its fields so went their for a change. Was really good.

Did 14x200m at between 32-40s (3.20mins/km)
with 100m walking recovery at about 50-70s
Then 6x100m at between 14-20s (3.31 mins/km)
with 100m walking recovery at about 50-70s

Not sure if all the straights and bends are exactly 100m but they are pretty close.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2] 3.15 km (6:21 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Jog to and from Whickham Comp playing fields with a little bit off stretching whilst there

S and C 25:00 [1]

Legs mainly just loosening them off

Running (Recovery) 1:05:07 [3] 11.34 km (5:45 / km) +100m 5:30 / km
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Was such a nice day so had to get out, felt really good today just jogging along but seemed to be floating.
Was a bit too warm for my liking. Also feel I got a bit carried away with myself and did a bit too much too quick

http://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/os_routes/show...

S and C 40:00 [3]

A bit more stretching to ease legs after the run at lunch.
Then ankle rotations
The plank
And a bit more general stretching

Orienteering race 2:11:11 [5] **** 8.8 km (14:54 / km) +440m 11:56 / km
spiked:15/19c shoes: Falcons A

FCC Race at Graythwaite
Felt pretty good after yesterday so was feeling quite confident.
1-3 Kept it steady and spiked all 3 of them
4 Didn't check my compass on the way out and ended up north (1min)
5-6 Good again made sure I read everything I needed too
7 Took the path then realised that was wrong so dropped down but not enough and ended up north-west then west then just above it (4mins)
8-10 Pretty good started to slow down after crossing the road though
11 Compass again, on the knoll with two crags below for ages! (5mins)
12 I have no idea, was doing well picking up all the features then drifted off north quite sharply, and into the dark green for ages relocated off the top of the hill then coming round got lost again took 40mins!!!! (atleast 30mins)
13-finish Fine just walked though as was pissed off and dead (5mins)

Dissapointed with myself to be honest, feel that I have let myself down. Ohwell don't think that I dropped any places in the FCC table.
Two weeks to forget this and concentrate on doing well

Cycling 2:30:00 [4] 10.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
shoes: Walshes 3

Went for a bike with Ian round the Jedburgh, it appeared we were following the black route. Was fine with the distance but the technical stuff I found hard didn't completely deck it, but had to jump off once.
The legs felt a lot better today, but the last hill back to Kirstins house was horrendous!
Also tried to wear my new Walshes in so I can hopefully wear them at the weekend. Will run in the tomorrow sometime probably

Felt really good today felt as if I was able to push up to another gear when I wanted as opposed to last weekends sprint. The navigation felt pretty good too. Made one bad route choice but apart from that quite solid, with a clean run reckon I could have ben sub-20.

1:Planned it in the start box and saw where Duncan went
2:Good
3:Good
4:Good
5:Good

Had to go out just found it really hard to motivate myself.
Wanted to go explore Ravensworth estate but got about 5-10mins in a found guy wandering around with a gun so thought maybe not and turned around an sprinted the other way. Generally cut across a lot of fields and stuff did a few big hills too and enjoyed the sun :D

Orienteering warm up/down 30:00 [2] 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Falcons A

Again made I was fully warmed up before the start.
Pissed off so didn't warm-down

Orienteering race 1:58:10 [5] *** 8.5 km (13:54 / km) +300m 11:49 / km
spiked:17/26c shoes: Falcons A

OK not so bad didn't make that many mistakes just the ones I did were huge!
1)Fine spiked and knew exactly where I was
2)Bit unsure as I didn't plan ahead but realised where I was and found it
3)Didn'ttake a bearing, got ahead of myself and undershot (6mins)
4)Was in the circle but just couldn't find it, one contour below (2:30mins)
5)Ok but ran into the dark green by accident (30secs)
6)Fine kind of stumbled upon it a bit, it felt too early
7)Bearing in fine
8)Just slow up the hill
9)Slow up the hill and wasn't really sure where it was (10secs)
10)Fine but slow
11)A bit higgle-dy and slow (45secs)
12)Fine
13)Fine
14)Terrible bearing to halfway then managed to veer off 90degrees right
15)Didn't take a bearing, again veered off massively right
Literally gave up now so slower than normal
16)Fine
17)Good went straight in
18)Good till the circle when I went away from it
19)Good
20)Good but very slow
21)Good
22)Poor - Got the wrong crag then set off to 23(the wrong way), went back
23)Take 2 was better knew where I was going, didn't like the last bit
24)Ok got confused though
25)Poor tried to cut a corner and failed and got confused
26)Good

Worked out I ran 12.2km instead of the 8.5km which is nearly 50% further

Need to focus more on the orienteering and less on the running really annoyed with it. But need to focus on the positives and make sure this doen't happen this week.

Saturday Apr 4, 2009 #

Orienteering warm up/down 35:00 [2] 2.5 km (14:00 / km)

Long warm-up to make sure my calf was ok when running
Then jog about with Josh after

Orienteering 17:10 [5] 3.0 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

British Sprint Champs Race 1
Ok clean after number one, eased off about 1/2 way round as so I didn't do my calf in

Orienteering 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Shorter warm-up and longer warm-down

Orienteering race 17:24 [5] 2.9 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Asic GT-2130

Aim was to spike all the controls and I did that so pleased in that sense. BUt felt I didn't have any leg speed. Tom took a minute out of me

Thursday Apr 2, 2009 #

S and C 15:00 [1]

Legs are so bad! Especially my left, my calf and hamstring are ridiculously tight. So thought it best to have a stretch to try and ease it

Wednesday Apr 1, 2009 #

X-Country race 26:38 [5] 6.23 km (4:17 / km) +123m 3:53 / km
shoes: Walshes 2

Interhouse X-country at Healy came 2nd :D
Winner did 24:41 but he is awesome (and in the year above)
Set off fast and tried to keep the same pace around the course the whole way kept up with the winner till about the 4km marker then lost touch. Really pleased with that and buzzing. Didn't think I'd do that well. Next year I'm going for the win :P

http://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/os_routes/show...

X-Country 17:00 [3] 1.7 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Walshes 2

Didn't get much time to warm-up before so had a little jog and stretch
After went backwards around the course for a bit and then stretched
