Note
(rest day)

Decided not to run Sunday after being utterly pants physically on Saturday and having a bit of a tight calf. Didn't feel like I missed out in the driving rain but a bit disappointed to miss running on Bigland. Again tonight I felt pants, just drained for some reason.

A winter BG leg 1 support.
A rather blustery affair luckily it was reasonably warm. He was moving well up Skiddaw and we dropped the other two supporters on the summit ridge. Felt a bit wrecked up Calva so skipped the out and back. The decent was fine but had a proper bonk on the next climb up Blencathra. Legs just couldn't get moving. Luckily were I started trying to up the pace to get back on across Mungrisdale I saw two lights and they were able to pace him up. Cut the last climb of Blencathra and caught back up by Doddick which was just as well as I had all the kit.
Tough evening out felt a bit like a tempo

10mile effort in Hamsterley Forest.
It felt tough, but it was enjoyable. Went around the west of the forest which I don't think I've ever been around so was good to see some new parts. Legs struggling in the last few km although I did go up the worst hill ever to finish

Around and about the vicinity of Sunniside as Scott couldn't stray too far from home.
Good catch up and nice to get out for a bit again. Lungs complained when having to up a gear on the hills so still not 100% but getting there.

Legs quite sore still.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3] 4.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 2

Lap of Wavertree beforehand
Little warm down afterwards, some stretching but a bit of caution about my lungs/throat

Running intervals 13:00 [5] 2.4 km (5:25 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 2

Maybe not the best session to jump back in with 8*300 (stepped down to 6) but thought I'd just cruise along with the slower folk in the 2nd group and get a bit of a work out.....
20m in and I was off the front, sod it. So just went with it, moved up to the front group and felt ok the first then was swimming in lactic the last two. Throat felt very dry and lungs were struggling on the last at this point so just stepped off. It was enough.

Rock Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Felt increasingly better throughout the day so thought another climb would do me good and get me out the flat. There were a fair few new routes up which was good. Still stuck on 3 problems where I just can't squeeze myself into a small enough ball to get my foot on a hold.

Rock Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Feeling somewhat normal during the day though its still in my throat.
Went climbing felt very weak in the main, struggled to make the arms or feet stick on quite a few I've done recently. Did manage a couple of new easy routes though on the overhangs whilst I was fresh

Friday Feb 10, 2017 #

Note

Getting there, still have a sore throat though. Sunday is looking unlikely.

Feeling alright but a bit tired, had toyed with the idea of going for a run when I got back. But I got back to Liverpool at 6:30 and after 3days of standing in a field getting snowed on decided not to be a bender and make myself feel worse by running in this cold. Still struggling to get warm too

Note
(sick) (rest day)

Very odd, I was fine on Sunday, Monday and most of Tuesday. Had a couple of dizzy spells out in Bishop Woods but didn't think anything of it. About 20mins after I got in my throat got a bit tender and went to bed with a banging headache and blocked nose. Woke up largely unchanged, feel rather flu-ey hopefully it will pass quickly.

Long Mynd Valley Recce Race
Unsure how I'd fare given the last week of exhaustion and legs feeling a bit naff running late to the start. But set off and the front of the race didn't disappear to quickly. Took a wrong line to #1 following the leaders but didn't lose too much time. Took a bad line to #2, choosing my own route around and lost about 200m or so. Gradually reeled them back in a sat with Saville up the climb out of #3 then down to #4, up and down to #5 and down to #6. The group reeled Will back in who had ran off the front a little at this point too and then for some reason en route to #7 I found myself in the lead for 5mins or so, dropped back a bit up the last steep climb but didn't mess up the checkpoint as bad a Will and Addison so didn't lose to much time. Ran down to #8 with Gary and Paul in a little Ambleside train and despite dropping back a little on the gradual valley climb regrouped with the lead pack at the base of the last climb. It was brutal and my legs faded a little here but stuck as close to Paul as possible which didn't work out great as we both messed up the route to the finish quite badly dropping about 4/5places and maybe 1min or 2. Finished in 13th, 2mins down on Saville who won.

Weird race with a big group or 20 or so at 2/3rd and felt weird to be up with Lloyd, Si Bailey et al for the majority although I imagine they were taking it a bit easy

Fell running warm up/down 16:00 [3] 2.5 km (6:24 / km) +45m 5:52 / km
shoes: Innov8 Xtalon 2017

Up to the reservoir and back with Saville and Willy after for a bit of a sit down then back to the car with just Will

Fell running 1:04:50 [3] 10.5 km (6:10 / km) +490m 5:00 / km
shoes: Innov8 Xtalon 2017

Went for a run in the Malvern Hills with Duncan. I was dying on the first climb but was alright after that bar feeling a bit knackered at times. Put an effort in back up to the Beacon and trundled in afterwards.
Lush day and nice to go somewhere new.

Pulling myself out of the tiredness

Rock Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

With duncan in the bouldering wall down the road. Good fun

Friday Feb 3, 2017 #

Note

Beginning to feel a bit better, could have ran two get but thought I'd play it safe after feeling empty last night

Running 32:45 [2] 6.2 km (5:17 / km) +25m 5:11 / km
shoes: Mizuno Sayonara 2

Went along to the harriers but it became apparent after 2miles that my body wasn't going to play ball so peeled off the back and jogged in slowly.
