Gravel roads of Marais Temps CA as Fran cycled in senior O. Nothing special but good diversion. Well-packed gravel/dirt. Lots of tall weedy fields and lots of ditches of water. A few birds.

Walking 3:30:00 [2]
New loop trail at Hawn, West of HSP Road, is still "in process". I checked out feasibility and appeal of recommended edits of route. All off-trail felt great!
I feared I'd missed chanterelle season -- found a pound or so plus a prime chicken-of-the-woods! Dinner!
Slash green thorny thickets on 2001 SLOC map are thicker than ever. In general, I've never seen so much underbrush at Hawn. Year for a big burn?
No ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes, or PI. But it seemed that one horsefly kept me company the whole trek. No bites.
