Walking 40:00 [1]

Red's bakery was nice place to hang out for breakfast - local 'old guy's hangout on Sat morning.
Hike to 420' drop Ataka Falls - very impressive and incredibly lush vegetation and flowers.
Then Lyman museum for some history.
Loved Hill's farmers' market and Miyo's Japanese restaurant.
Enjoyed talking to patrons at local bar to watch Boston beat LA.

Walking 2:00:00 [1]

Volcanoes NP has reopened but many trails closed and after 20+ years, no active lava flows in Hawaii.
Still enjoyed two hikes along crater rim of 1400 volcano within which 2018 volcano erupted. Sure glad that park volunteer urged us to hike closed road on southern side --much closer to 2018 crater. Still lots of steam vents from both.

Swimming 1:45:00 [2]

Snorkeling at Honaunau beach -- good variety of fish; healthier coral, mostly 8-15 ft so some diving to see better.

Swimming 1:30:00 [2]

Snorkeling at kahalu'u beach - lots of fun. At least 20 species of fish - very plentiful. Shallow - popular for families and beginners.

Swimming 40:00 [1]

Night viewing of Manta rays - saw a few. Mediocre company.

Canoeing 30:00 [2]

Kayak to Manta viewing.

Note

Well needed rest and travel (fly to Kona, west side of Big Island). Lovely dinner at Quinn's Almost by the Sea; owned by Packet fans.
