After lunch at Food Fair at Thai Wat in NW county, hiked St Stanislaus CA for first time. Stayed on flats though river bluffs are probably its highlight -- L&C noted the coal seams in its bluffs; former sight of St Stanislaus seminary.
Lots of unmapped trails -- each open field has a mowed trail around it - probably for hunters. Water level low enough to get to unnamed island on MO River, not quite low enough to get to Bryan Island. Saw hundreds of fresh beaver cuttings of 1-2" saplings and some larger trees. Also walked through stretch of incredibly open young woods. Thaw and recent rain made a bit muddy.
