Orienteering 40:00 [3]

Went out to hang notorious control #27 at Hawn - a dot knoll (?) on small spur on steep hillside. I'd hoped to pick some controls too, but hung around to work finish. Great turnout on great day at Hawn.

Orienteering 3:30:00 [2]

2 water stops, 13 controls hung for Turkey O' - ranks as best MO hike ever! Great 'new' rock features. How about a '13m boulder' as a clue at Hawn!

Came upon one buck standing still, 50 feet away. I stopped, out-waited him, glad when he did a 180 away from private land and slunk off without a sound - in oak leaves. Later spooked about 5 turkeys; heard 4 deer noisily bounding away followed by 4 does who first stopped to check me out.

40's and sunny. (Warmer tomorrow.) 3-4 inches of recent rain hardly noticeable except Pickle Creek up a bit - wet feet likely for many.

Inov 340's are GREAT - very good traction on oak leaves and on bare rock - very comfortable.

Running 41:00 [2]

Dawdled all day in 70 degree weather, but finally got out to FP. Met colleague Anne-Marie (running) as I got out of car. Went to locker room, came back out, ran south, and intercepted her as she approached zoo - good timing! Pleasant run and chat as she pushed me just a bit faster than usual. She 'dropped' me at Visitor Center and continued further.
