Orienteering 1:20:00 [1]

Map hike training for 3 kids and ranger's wife - with Anna's help, it was fun and all enjoyed it. Big thanks to Kevin T for working with Steve and two daughters on Orange+ skills!

Orienteering 2:00:00 [2]

Picking up Grunt controls. What a weekend to be at Hawn. Time to grade some tests :).

Amazingly, by end of each race, stiff back was better: run, adrenaline, and ibuprofen (Friday) are great therapy! and now back to too much sitting at work :( .

Goal: find a better balance.

Orienteering race 20:41 [4]

Middle at Hawn. One of my cleanest runs. Lost 1-minute twice to hesitation. 3rd on Green; 1st in my first M60.

Orienteering race 18:53 [3]

Fun downhill "sprint" at Hawn. No legs left. But back was improved during/after every race. Fun course. Went down steep hill to trail to #5 (earth bank). High was much faster - bit riskier. 7-8: I intended to do long leg high and contour north. But came out of 7 too far right. First paralleled road (hmm, that's slow), then hit road anyway.

Orienteering race 14:01 [4]

Green sprint at Forest Park. Hesitation approaching 6 - small depression was a bit further from trail than I anticipated. Missed seeing trail to 7 - lost little time in woods. Did choose woods over trail 2-3 times - rare for FP. Overall a very clean run, but familiarty with FP certainly did help. Had trouble seeing trails (brown road symbol) in light green on map - I'd see it, then lose it when I glanced away and back.

Lower back was very stiff Sunday to Wed due to Y workout, 2 plane flights, and lots of sitting - walking ws hard, stooped. Improved Thur and Friday, ibuprofen helped, but definitely slowed running pace today. Felt bit better after race.
