Orienteering race 14:01 [4]

Green sprint at Forest Park. Hesitation approaching 6 - small depression was a bit further from trail than I anticipated. Missed seeing trail to 7 - lost little time in woods. Did choose woods over trail 2-3 times - rare for FP. Overall a very clean run, but familiarty with FP certainly did help. Had trouble seeing trails (brown road symbol) in light green on map - I'd see it, then lose it when I glanced away and back.

Lower back was very stiff Sunday to Wed due to Y workout, 2 plane flights, and lots of sitting - walking ws hard, stooped. Improved Thur and Friday, ibuprofen helped, but definitely slowed running pace today. Felt bit better after race.

Walking 20:00 [2]

Stopped at Ford River landing. Walked on the river to Lake Michigan. Checked out 3 sets of old man-made limestone pilings I'd never seen before. (Probably parts of old docks for sailing ships on Lake Michigan 100+ years ago - logs etc.) Walking back against wind was brutal - on parts of slick ice, I feared that the wind might push me back - it didn't.

Treadmill 33:00 [3]

2 sets at Escanaba Y.
First, 18 minutes at about 7.2 pace.

At end, 2 sets of 2x2x2 at 5.8, 6.8, 7.8 - nice intervals.

Really wanted to get out for 2 runs in 3 days. Temps were fine, dry, BUT the 30 mph winds Fri and Sat eased only to 10-15 on Sunday. Even walking 2 blocks to Hereford and Hops was a challenge - ah, but the brew was good!

Machines 24:00 [2]

Set of 9 machines at Y.

My back really needed it - too much sitting on planes, auto, and work.
