Note

Great day for 3 hour Score O at Babler. Over 60 degrees and probably record turn-out. Over 100?

Using our smallest park so far for Score O', my goal was to still make a sweep 'difficult'. Babler's wicked hills got to most. Woods were wide open, but had to dodge deadfall& some trashy bottomlands. Only Eric swept - with 50 seconds to spare. With a higher density of controls, more people got to more markers.

At end, a Finn came up and said he'd seen our signs. Working at Pfizer, he misses orienteering and saunas. We should see him again soon.

Orienteering 2:30:00 [3]

Put out last 12 Babler controls as Dave Fisher put out 8 controls including 2 water stops. We are ready! 60 and sunny for Saturday!

Cool today, but sun came out and wind was only bad on the ridges. A couple red-headed woodpeckers and evidence of some VERY ambitious beavers on Wild Horse Creek. They are about 25% through a 1-foot diameter tree and a have taken a 'big bite' out of a 2-foot diameter tree. They must sure be tasty trees! Nearby saplings and medium trees are all untouched.

Wow, Babler sure has a lot of hills! Always, "One more climb!"
