Orienteering 2:57:07 [4] 15.0 km (11:48 / km)

Clean Turkey O' run at Hawn. About 40 degrees; dry; some sun. Always stayed in contact with map. Good sense of distance; pace-counted 3-4 times as needed.

Planned and executed 15K route: cautious 12min/K reflecting my fitness; 3 hrs; some climb (felt like only 2%); allowance for errors. 26 of 31 controls. 1 pt/control made it easy to skip 4 'far west'. Also skipped #20 - tough to build into route.

2-3 bobbles - missed #30 left coming from SW - distance concerned me, hit stream, recognized it, turned right. #2 from north - dropped in one reentrant early - surprised - litle time lost. #15 - hit location clean and confident, mis-hung control, guessed correctly where it might be. Last control: #5 - tough uphill climb from creek - hit knoll - no control - too tired and short on time to search - some master maps in error.

Perhaps, 3rd overall (?) behind Eric and Dave who both swept. Probably best Turkey O' finish and best run.

Walking 50:00 [2]

Vigorous walk to Shaw's Garden, pleasant visit, then home. Took a awhile to warm up. 40 with a breeze. The Holiday train/lanscape exhibit was excellent.

For any Swedes out there, visited the Linnean House and saw the Carl Milles sculptures.

Running 50:00 [2]

Very pleasant long run in Forest Park. Hitting several Kennedy Forest trails made the time go much faster. They are beginning HUGE unspecified work on park's largest 2 creeks (in Keendy and west of Jewel Box). Also, rehabbed Pavilion Hill looks GREAT.

Bit warm for running :) - about 75 - maybe a record high.

But Wed-Thur will be near record low highs for the day - about 40.

STL weather!
