Orienteering 34:00 [2]

Stopped at Cuivre River at dusk on way back from state GPML in Columbia. Forgot compass and gaiters. Short course was disastrous. Learned how dependent I am on compass to keep map oriented. Also, 1:15000 scale probably made it harder. Being off by 20-30 degrees and not sure of size of contour features really thourgh me off.

Lesson: Reinforced need to constantly glance at compass and map to hold orentation, especially across bland spur and flat areas.

Running 44:00 [2]

Forest Park - sluggish at first, then hit a nice rhythym. Read Cuivre River map a bit - I find it hard to stay focussed on it during a park run.

Running 42:00 [2]

Spent 4.5 hours telling marathoners where to turn - lots of arm-waving and clapping on my part. nacy Lieberman scheduled the STL marathon one day after a cold, rainy week; unlike Boston today.

Inspired me to run in Forest Park at dusk. Goal was 30-40 minutes. Ran 42 minutes and it really felt good - cool and sunny.
