Running with Sam and Presto on the Finger Lakes Trail! Next section of the Finger Lakes Trail, this time from the other side of the giant Shindagin Hollow hill. We again started out by running up the giant hill. I was slightly less destroyed by the hill this time, maybe because my stress level is about 100x lower this weekend. Then we had a really delightful run around on the Shindagin Hollow trails back to the car. I've really only gotten the chance to run on the other side of the Shindagin Hollow trails, which are pretty nice but unremarkable. This side of Shindagin Hollow is clearly designed for mountain bikes, which made for some fun swoopy, swoopy downhills. Also, there really couldn't have been a nicer day for a run in the woods - sunny, low humidity, and upper 50s. Perfect!
This may be our last Finger Lakes Trail excursion of the season, since we'll be at the Billygoat next weekend. All the little plants are getting their leaves, so the poison ivy surely isn't far behind, and in two weeks, things might be leafed out. The random sections of the Finger Lakes Trail that we are traversing just aren't high enough traffic to keep the vegetation back, so it is kind of dangerous from a poison ivy perspective. Luckily there are copious awesome summer trail options, so we will not lack for fun nearby runs!
