Running 1:30:00 [3] 8.2 mi (10:59 / mi) +400m 9:32 / mi

Running with Sam and Presto on the Finger Lakes Trail! Next section of the Finger Lakes Trail, this time from the other side of the giant Shindagin Hollow hill. We again started out by running up the giant hill. I was slightly less destroyed by the hill this time, maybe because my stress level is about 100x lower this weekend. Then we had a really delightful run around on the Shindagin Hollow trails back to the car. I've really only gotten the chance to run on the other side of the Shindagin Hollow trails, which are pretty nice but unremarkable. This side of Shindagin Hollow is clearly designed for mountain bikes, which made for some fun swoopy, swoopy downhills. Also, there really couldn't have been a nicer day for a run in the woods - sunny, low humidity, and upper 50s. Perfect!

This may be our last Finger Lakes Trail excursion of the season, since we'll be at the Billygoat next weekend. All the little plants are getting their leaves, so the poison ivy surely isn't far behind, and in two weeks, things might be leafed out. The random sections of the Finger Lakes Trail that we are traversing just aren't high enough traffic to keep the vegetation back, so it is kind of dangerous from a poison ivy perspective. Luckily there are copious awesome summer trail options, so we will not lack for fun nearby runs!

Running 35:00 [3] 3.6 mi (9:43 / mi)

Running with Presto after submitting my grant proposal! Well, that was...painful. (The grant, not the run.) There are a few things I have learned about grants this year:

1. Do not plan to submit two grants on which I am lead PI in the same week
2. Do not plan to submit a grant on which I am lead PI while also teaching a new class

I managed to get all of the grants in that I planned to get in this year, but there was much pain and stress. Anyway, it was a gorgeous day, so to celebrate I dragged Presto around on a run. I was working from home for the submission today, and Presto found that less relaxing than usual, since he could tell something stressful was happening. He did not seem to think that running was an appropriate response to spending an entire day kind of freaking out, and dragged until we got on the trails around Beebe Lake. So glad the grant is in! Now I just have to finish up this semester!

Running 33:00 [3] 3.6 mi (9:10 / mi)

Running around Ithaca in the warm! Whoa! Warm today! I had to work all day, but at least I could do it out on the porch and enjoy the springiness. Presto was exhausted from a day of not being sure if he wanted to sleep in his bed on the porch or his bed in the living room, and was generally seeming a bit sore after yesterday, so I did the run on my own. Still not especially fast, but good to be out regardless.
