Orienteering 15:34 [3] *** 2.4 km (6:29 / km)

Victory Park prelim with Presto! Presto and I headed out to Stockton today for the first day of the Stockton Sprint Weekend. The park was pretty simplistic, but the course was still quite fun. There were some ducks and geese and some sort of duck/chicken/goose hybrid thing. Presto had lots of admirers.

Turns out Stockton has a high sketchiness quotient. The bathrooms at this park lacked doors. After the morning race, a group of us planned to go out to lunch, and I was just planning to leave Presto in the car while we ate. However, when we got there there was lots of glass on the ground where car windows had been smashed in and lots of boarded up windows on stores with signs like "Going out of business. Nothing left to steal." I was pretty worried about leaving Presto in the car, especially once some guys came up to me and asked how much Presto was worth. So, Presto and I just went to the next park, which was admittedly, still pretty sketchy, and hung out there between the races.

Weber Point Mass Start! The afternoon race was a mass start with lots of loops on an even more simplistic park. Apparently, not simplistic enough, though because I made a few mistakes. The biggest one was going from 2 to 4 and then realizing when I was almost there that I'd failed to go to 3. So I went to 3 and then managed to go to 8 and then to 4. It was much better after that, with a slight mis-aiming at one point. Oh, and another point where I came to one of the controls in the center of the loops and realized I had no idea which control I was supposed to go to next. It was super fun with all the people running around back and forth across the park! Presto and I apparently ran through some sort of puppy class by accident, which caused much chaos in the puppy class.

Running 31:48 [3] 3.1 mi (10:15 / mi)

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! I got home about half an hour before Sam, changed into my running clothes, and then snuggled down onto the couch with Presto and a book. I have to say, this is not the most effective way to pump yourself up for a run... Anyway, Sam did manage to rouse me for a nice run, and once we got going running actually felt nice and easy even on the uphill! Presto was excited by the family of deer that were hanging out on the sidewalk.

Running 30:00 [3] 3.1 mi (9:41 / mi)

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! Just an easy, chatting run tonight. It was a bit warmer than it has been and kind of wet (although not actually raining). The uphill half of the run was a bit of work tonight, but the downhill half was great. Presto got super excited by what I assume must have been deer at one point, but we never actually saw them.

Running 29:42 [3] 3.1 mi (9:35 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 19

Running with Presto after lab! My hip was kind of bothering me yesterday, I think from lugging so much mud around on my sneakers on Saturday, so I opted to just relax. But it was feeling pretty decent today, so I headed out for a run after work. Seems like a lot of the houses with impressive lights still have their displays up but are no longer turning them on. Running felt mostly fine with a few funny twinges in my left ankle.
