Note

Won't be running for a while now to sort this bloody achillies out, so cross training and plenty of it is the order of the day.

Bike 47:29 [3] 13.66 mi (3:29 / mi)

Really windy tonight and nearly got blown off a few times. Up to the junction before crondal, then to the roundabout at odiam and back.

running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Adidas swoops 2

Orienteering race 1:12:00 [5] 8.32 km (8:39 / km) +210m 7:41 / km

VHI individual Eyam Moor.
First starter of the day so no pressure.
Went off ok and hit #1 well.
A bit hesitant to 2 but nailed 3 and 4 ok.
Alarm bells started ringing on the way to #5 so I stopped too early and went back too far. I think that the heather was so high and slow that I had thought that I'd overshot it.
Dan Gooch caught me here and though I hit 6 and 7 ok, he zoomed by me before 8. At this point I had nothing left in the tank and was in trouble.
#11 really p!ssed me off as I was in the right place but just a few meters too high. 1.5m crag my arse!!!
Fell over on the way to 17 and as I cleaned my map the print started to come off which made the next 5 controls interesting.
Nailed them all if a little slow though.
Turned my map over for #22 and found no print at all near the control circle. Fortunately Nick came storming through here and I managed to hang on long enough to see him come out of it:-)
Finished the rest of the course ok but certainly a performance that I will be quick to forget.
The course and area were great but completely let down by the quality of map in printing and acuracy!!!
Also the climb was way more than 210!!!

running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speed Cross

A really crap area for warming up.

Orienteering race 31:13 [5] 4.4 km (7:06 / km) +170m 5:57 / km
shoes: Salomon Speed Cross

VHI Relay at Longshaw. 1st long leg in the mass start. Held on for dear life behind Charlie Adams and Dan Gooch. Hard work for the 1st part but started to feel good after 7 controls. Put the boot in on the last 3 and just nipped in at the front. My team was 8th but we won the relays:-)
