Muncaster Luck. 2nd, about 4mins back of Sam H.
What a cracking little race, with only 36 starters. Sam got an early gap so settled in with Neal Crampton. We led at the 2nd CP after Sam had taken a duff line, which actually helped down through the fields to the first river crossings. He yhen pulled a gap in the climb to water crag, and I distanced Neal. Took on some rougher than necessary ground (somewhat purposefully) over the last few CPs, and also missed some flags on the last descent so hit the 2nd river crossing with Neal. Sat and kicked on the savage climb up the Cannon Bank to the finish - got to be the slowest finish in the country?

Good solid effort which is what I was after. Will go to a few races in the next few weeks but all enjoyable training for 7 7s and beyond.

This has got to be the best race to bring kids to as they can piss about in the castle and grounds (and look at the owls etc.)

First look round LBS with No1 Dad and Billy Boy. Good terrain and will be an interesting race, especially if the clag is down! Worth another look or 10 - when tourist season hits this'll be the place to go!
