Note

Just finished the Boff Whalley book on Gary Devine (Faster! Louder), fell running and punk. Excellent. The fellrunning sections very well summed up my overalp thoughts on the sport. Very well written and engaging throughout (I haven't read Steve Chilton's books but his Fellrunner articles are very dry - bareable for 4 pages but maybe not a whole book)

It does however highlight somewhat the misty-eyedness many older fell runners have for the exploits and characters of the 70s, 80s and early 90s, almost to the dereliction of anything since. OK in the early 00-10ss winning times were down on old records but courses and times and society change and its not like characters are lacking. It's good to see the younger lads now breaking some of these pedastled times. I can't really see many books written about the 2000s in fell running though. Maybe in 20 years "Nice Tits: How an ornithological Piss Artist from Wales (via Cumbria and Sheffield) became British Fell Running Champion of the world".

Steady away, worked a bit harder on the climb then put in a bit of race effort to drop the group before moderate effort back into the headwind. Nice outing.

Easing in some quicker running with 3x ~7min (1.5) around town. Felt alright. Only missed one meeting due to the difference in clock change between here and the US.

Started to feel alright so time to start building in a bit more structured training (might sound like I've planned it all out; I haven't).
Rather oddly my elbows started hurting after this. Arm swings must be on point.
