Edale Skyline English champs 1. 18th, +16 (110%) on Carlos.
The last 2 weeks, whilst not totally ideal, had at least served as a good taper and I was feeling pretty good and confident.
Set off steady around the usual suspects. I then got a worldy of a line underneath the woolpacks to the top of Jacob's ladder - Wardy had given me a heads uo beforehand and I freestyled it well - to leapfrog a good min or more, landing on Bray's shoulders. A nice chat along the flags feeling comfy, watching Stead dissapear into the distance.
Dropped back a bit on the ridge and was losing a bit more than ideal on the climbs. Eased down to hope road and kept it sensible up Hope Brink. Suffered a bit between Win Hill and Crookestone, Ted M, Lamby and Mike A pulling away, but Will N and Gav stayed the same distance ahead.
Plodded as best I could up from Hope cross, a Wharfe came past but reeled in Jack Wood doing what Jack Wood does best (bonking hard), but I could feel a top 20 slipping away. However as the grade eased a bit at coffin rock I got a second wind, picking off Will, Gav, Wharfe, a struggling Lamby and reeling Bray in at RR before dispensing of him on the descent.

Lovely day out, well paced and a good result, especially in an early season race when a lot of people are out to play. 30s slower than my 2015 time in the opposite direction in windy rainy foggy and Brown Knoll pre-flagstone conditions.

Reversing the route does make up for the loss of a foggy, boggy Brown Knoll eliminator, replaced with hope brink and Crookestone climbs.

Note

So far this week I have already put away 2 packs of oat and raisin cookies in short order, and it's only Wednesday. Purely mood related as feeling a bit lethargic at the moment.

2x15min tempo.
Felt OK, would like this pace to feel easier by now but that's my fault for not putting that work in properly. Still time to start feeling it better though.
