Through the Sub-bergs to Malin Bridge, then up Loxley, Bradfield and on to Wigtwizzle to watch TY.
Bumped into Olly and Joe Booth, then Neil, Zan, Dan, Jane and RFR rolled up. Long wait with kids blowing whistles in our ears. I'm going to invent whistles that self destruct after a certain number of blows.

Back along the Strines road, bit choked with people/cars/cyclists at the start and in narrower bits. Bloody cyclists! Then up Lodge Lane, round top of Fulwood and through Totley. Bit windy at times but most enjoyable.
Think I might do a bit more (fair-weather) cycling this summer. Unlike most people my heart seems to get a bit of a work-out from it (although that could just be shock after 5 days off)
So I DNS'd the 3 peaks. This is the first time I have ducked a big race and it's not something I take lightly, especially the grief I can give people for doing similar!
However all week I felt shit. A combo of long run and getting drunk last weekend really didn't sit well with my body and I felt shattered for much of the week. Along with a busy week at work I got in a bit of a hole mentally and resolved that, whilst sometimes you can run races for enjoyment, 4h or so on the three peaks wouldn't be enjoyable but, more importantly, would leave in an even deeper mental and physical hole.
So I spent the day at home doing... nothing, and feeling very guilty about it. I've forgotten how to do nothing! However, right call and feeling much better for it already.
