Last minute PPP cramming, or setting wheels in motions for June/July?
Cracking day around the back yard. Added in the Mount Famine death climb to my normal route to perk things up a bit. Tired on the uphills but moving and feeling OK, though body appears to have been working a bit too hard for it - got a bit of a snuffle so maybe fighting that off. Good to get some fell agility work in on the edge and some downhills.

When I rolled up Lantern Pike 2mins quicker than a normal roll would take, I thought 'maybe I should be racing tomorrow', but despite running every step of Sandy Heys (for the first time ever?), albeit very slowly, I soon realised that I was due my first weekend off racing since before BUCS.

New shoes (Old design Roclites from SportsPursuit) great on everything but the traverse around dumps - where the grip was ace but the standard fit felt very baggy (as it should I suppose).

Managed to trip over my lace loops and stacked it. Toddled in to Bole Hill , had a sit down and body paled out. Hd a bit of a lie down before recommencing the stroll in to work.

For some reason my body doesn't like some things when my head is fine with them - falling over and having blood taken the main culprits.

ITW via Bole Hill.
Left ankle a bit wonky and have developed a bit of a sore throat, but generally feeling better in myself - a good tired as opposed to a worn-out, barely functioning tired - better than I have done since HPM.
However it's clear that my base is fairly broken down so I need to work that up again through both training and racing, shouldn't take much though. My aim of a low 3h time at PPP are put to one side, but I could still 'pull a skyline'. It'll all be good fun anyway.

Herod Farm, 4th (+1.3x on Matt)

Operation 'race myself into race shape' started at the first of the Peak evening races. Even wore my proper race shoes for the first time since the FRAs. Sat in on first climb, cruisey down then got moving on 2nd climb, reeling in tomtom before attacking over the top.
Still not quite in the zone, especially downhill, but it'll come and some encouragement despite being a bit slower than 2015. There's a long summer and autumn ahead but it was nice to start hurting myself, and good to see the Hr getting up.
100 Pennine Points, which is the most important thing. And ankle fine thank you Malley.

Some sneaky 'punch wrong gaffle then nail it to your gaffle to confuse the opposition' saw me sneak ahead of Mikey in EUOC's 4th team (contrary to twitter, EUOC did have 4 men's teams). This wrong gaffle was my 3rd mistake, after Willy lead me astray to 4 (he then ran away once we hit the heathland as I had nowt) and I muffed up the last heathland control with poor compass, ending up too high.
13th position - not bad considering the ShUOC 2nd team contained myself and Alex Moore (alongside Olly) after bruises and lung-poppings saw us bumped up.
