slept:8.5 shoes: Mudclaw 300 'Classic' green

Large loop of the Derwent Ressers, (although I barely saw them). Alport Castles and trig, fairly easy running for the first 8 miles. Then pick a point and go direct to Grinnah stones, Horse Stone and outer edge, on to Howden edge, down to Berristers Tor and up to Lost Lad and Back Tor, 10 miles pretty much all in terrain. Last 4 miles a shuffle back along the ridge.

Body fairly uncooperative after yesterday, but that's the whole point. ~4.5kg pack (decreasing in weight to ~3kg as I ate and drank).

Woke in the night for a piss and couldn't get back to sleep for nearly 2h worrying. Shattered when the alarm went.

Had plans on heading to Burnsall after, but not wanting to push it and the weather saw me head home.

31st. Winner: Sam Tosh 1:15:40ish.

An OK performance. I was strong on the last two climbs and picked people off well after a steady start. Generally climbing strongly if not too quickly and kept to task fairly well but desperately lacking speed on flatter/gently uphill ground - kicked past Steve Franklin twice on short downhills on the run for home, only for him to cruise past on the following flats.

After worries about my mid-week stuffiness, lungs felt pretty great with tiredness in legs from last weekend the limiting factor.

Felt good over the first hill but suffered a bit on the 1st proper climb out of Mearley Clough - Josh and Kieran (and MMB) moving away easily here. Josh said he'd had a caffeine gel - do I need to start thinking about hopping myself up on ProPlus before races?

The 3 main climbs are the same as those in the Full Tour of Pendle, where you hit them about 7 miles and 3 climbs in - it was a different prospect to race them instead of just survive them today!

Good chat with Ad, MMB and Randy about the latter's arm warmers.

Felt naff in the last few hours at work but a chocolate bar and the jog home made me feel a bit more human. Opted out of Meersbrook hill session and did 8x3min around and about instead - bit slow but this block is all about running quackish when feeling naff anyway.
