Kinder Downfall 2nd, 7s behind Little Rob.
I wanted to win this. I felt good (finally), climbed well and had a good race with Rob and Steve Franklin. Gave it my all and ran a good time so happy with that.
A random Buxton guy lead us out before a Cambuslang took up the early running. Rob, Steve Franklin and myself settled in and were about 30-50m behind him all the way over the Snake Path and up William Clough. I lead the early part of the clough before Steve and Rob took over, but I was pleased that they only ever got ~10m gap, which I always closed.
Plenty of people in the clough as it's the anniversary of the Kinder Trespass. I shouted 'mind your backs', Rob shouted 'Race coming through!'. One guy took umbrage at this: 'it's a footpath', so I politely told him that we were, indeed, on foot. I made point of thanking as many people standing to the side as I could.
Took on some sweets up Kinder Steps and as we reached the edge snow flurries started, the Cambuslang lad now not in sight due to the clag. I let Steve go ahead the wurzled him good and proper with the Sandy Heys cut - maybe I should have let Rob go ahead as well! Caught sight of Cmabuslang as we headed towards the Downfall, and a better line to it saw the gap drop to 20m. Shortly after he stopped, seeming to have some stomach issues but he actually stacked it. I pulled a gap over Rob on the rougher path, but he closed me down as it smoothed out towards the cairn at Kinder Low.
The flags to Edale cross were pretty slick and treacherous so we ran on the side of them. The nice grassy bits had a few gaps and Rob hit a bog and face-planted. I resisted the urge to step on his back and made my move as we hit the descent down from Swines Back and down the track. I knew I needed a good cushion before hitting the roads and gave it as much as I could through the fields and Tunstead Farm. I had maybe 20s on Rob here and set to work as best I could on the road, but he reeled me in and passed me just as we left the road. I was gone and gave the best I could but it was definitely a slow-motion sprint finish.
2:20 up on Steve which is pleasing (he did miss lines). Solid first team as well with 2, 4 and 5.

Lose Hill Rep then 4 shorter reps around the summit, between 1-4mins each. A bit too tired to get a really good workout but ground it out. The climb on the N side is a real brute, lovely and grassy and goes even further down. The climb on the S side is all tussocks so I'll avoid this next time.
Disappointed to be ~10s slower than my PB on the Lose Hill climb.
Finished with a trot along the ridge to Mam Tor where a paraglider set off. Plenty of lambs and even a calf. And a cat.
Been invited to an OMM-style event in Denmark - transfers, entries and hotel paid for and chance for some promo. Alas it's my only free weekend in a run of SIPR, Highlammder and National 3 peaks YR/Jukola/Buttermere so figured it prudent to turn them down.
