Note

OMM start lists are up. Looks fairly open but could have been more stacked. Expecting Shane/Duncan, Oleg/Sam and Adam/Kim to fight for the top 3, with Jim/Myself, Jasmin/Konrad and AndyF/Helen scrapping for the rest. Hopefully I'll surprise myself - been feeling good of late, think training over the last 8 weeks or so has gone well and mentally dealing very well with longer runs. Although what happens at 4,5h+ is anyone's guess!

home-uni-Endcliffe. Tripping along OK after yesterday. Maybe I could have done XC?

Staggered back via Walkley. Very glad I didn't do XC!

19th. 1st: Sam Tosh 2:11:57 (109%)

A cracking day in the lakes - were it not fir the damp underfoot conditions it would have been perfect. Legs felt a bit tired on the first climb so I just settled in and had a cruise round talking to Jack until the crinkles where I eased away. A bit of effort up Blisco to try and catch the pack ahead, closed the gap but soon eased up on the descent as no need to risk going AoT in a rocky bog.

Got most lines but will need more looks. Crinkles was good but maybe a bit low. Followed RossL on a good line around the Bad Step but being ballsy here may pay off. In general racing on shit slippery boggy rock needs to improve though as I was mincing a lot - maybe due to not having my racing head on?

Harold summited PoB just ahead of me, finished ~30mins after. Someone went to 3 Shires then!

Found myself at the bottom of Blake Street. Quite a long time later I found myself at the top of Fulton Road. Think I blacked out in between.

Uni and Parks as part of the SHUOC intro to orienteering events. Turnout from the club was pretty piss-poor, even with the excuse of freshers' meal last night.

Had a trot around in between helping out. Usual issue on an area you know well of not looking at the map.

Running - Trail race 2:49:41 [2] 32.47 km (5:14 / km) +724m 4:42 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: TrailRoc 255

Started off up porter with Willy, Matt and Adam, continued through Lady Canning's with Nathan, then solo across Burbage, Stanage, High Neb, Headstone and Rivelin, with a loop to the shop to get p[rovissions edging me over 20 miles. Fairly heavy pack, didn't feel very good but moving OK and felt I could keep going - got up the last couple of climbs better than anticipated. Bit headwind on the way out, new Haglofs jacket good but given the dreich weather this morning thought it was going to get a proper test - the wind at least dried the rocks out.

3x5(1); 5x45/45. 1st sloppy Endcliffe session of the winter, great! Was on my own for most, not really through design. OK with this though as I don't need to worry about matching my speed to others at the moment, just grinding away on my own, working on my aerobic base.

Running - Road 28:28 intensity: (12:00 @1) + (16:28 @2) 5.57 km (5:06 / km) +118m 4:37 / km

Note

Planning on training through Langdale until the middle of next week, at which point I'll rest up (FRAs and CSC excepted) before the OMM. After that I'll do whatever I feel like for a few weeks.

Danny Chan/Kestrel ran 2:26 (OK, 2:26:57) at Chester Marathon yesterday. Hope he remembers what a fell feels like in 2 weeks' time (and put the shitters on our leg2 runners!)
