DVO Chinley Churn. SL: 8.1/325m.
Looking forward to this as it's been the hill I looked on from my bedroom window for the first 18 years of my life. The moorland was a bit more technical than I thought, but still more about running, with the mines good if a bit narrow, so out to a path and along was always a fairly easy option.
I started very scrappily with small misses in the circle at 1 & 5, going in a set of crags too early at 7, along with some fairly daft errors: 4 - was in the marsh the control was in, but started trying to navigate by the trees nearby; Knew I needed to get back on the path out of 6 to get to the Xing point, but just started running direct towards #7 anyway (~70s between these). There was a smaller unmapped depression at 10 which threw me (1min - can see the unmapped depression on the satellite image!), and I was too high on a very vague reentrant at 11 (20s), led into it by someone else.
I went low to 14, taking in extra climb up a rough stream, when high would have been best. After this though I got going and was cleanish, but it was a bit easier. However I felt a bit tired on the runnable hills, especially coming out of 15 and 20, but was moving OK elsewhere.
SI times out a bit - results listed as Dane 54:00, Wooders 55:05, Me 57:10 (106%). OK, but reckon I could have done 55 fairly easily.
