ShUOC peloton with Sav, Paddy and Coops. Took in the Thrushberg before meeting the guys, then out to RInglinglow, over to Longshaw. fun descent to Calver, along to Hathersage then up The Dale for an Ice Cream at BUrbage Bridge. Back to Ringinglow and around the top of Porter. Left the guys at Lodge Moor and did a loop over Stannington and Bradfield (ergh!) before heading home.

37th. Winner: Tom Addison 59:01 (116%)

Set off feeling OK, if a bit tired in the legs. Happy where I was up and down the first climb, but when we hit the 2nd climb, the first really hard one, I dropped a lot. From then on I was always around the same people, losing a bit (but not too much) on the climbs and re-catching them on the descents. Just got Vic Wilkinson before the finish - Annie Conway was one who pulled away on the 2nd climb though.

The result is OK, the run was meh but it'll have to do at this point in the season. Felt pretty good finishing, just can't push myself at the moment - need to move slightly from my current long-distance donkey mode.

Nice day out though

Spectating Tiger's Todger with Jonny, including a couple of loops in Lady Canning's waiting for the runners to arrive. Missed Thumper and Bond (saw them in the distance once on the track), catching the peloton containing Potter and Steve Franklin. Bumped into Hulleymonster (and dog Skye) twice.
Bit of steady at the end to get to the finish in time to see the end of the heavyweight encounter between Moore and Cooper.

Uni to Endcliffe via Bandit Country.
Drills and the slowest strides ever
1,2,4,6,4,2,1 off half recovery. Zombie. Paces about my normal steady run pace. Expected.
Stagger home. Made the mistake of turning up Condy road, ouch! Someone also tole me to vote Nick Clegg out. Wrong constituency unfortunately.
On the plus side, I didn't shit in the park!

Note

Some punter called Ian Holmes smashed a downhill split I held on the Coniston race. Who is this guy?
Done a lot of drinking and not much running this week - 30 miles the least since post-OMM and the le tour week in July. Think a break was needed but may have gone to town a bit too much.
Little proper training done since mid-march. Need to get back on it (Duddon/Bradda will go off residual endurance) and fully aware it will hurt and suck to start with. Should probably try to get a bit leaner as well - was doing OK with this a few weeks back, but then this week hit.

Trying to get my body (and last night's double-dinner and beers) moving. Both moderately successful.

James' Thorn. 5th. Winner: Simon Harding (32:01; 108%).

Expecting nowt but a blow-out fest. Steady start up the road with Simon and another Macc lad. Once the climb proper started I was soon dropped and eventually passed into 8th place. Summated in 7th - ground out a steady if not very good tempo. Got 2, including Stefan, on the descent, but couldn't get myself moving quick enough to catch 3rd and 4th. 2nd Pennine with Ian in 2nd. Bout what I expected, but blew the cobwebs out and better than going to bed. Nice day and got some tanning (i.e. going red) done.
