Running - Road 21:33 [2] 3.94 km (5:28 / km) +180m 4:27 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Mudclaw 265

Spent a damp night in Toddy's not very waterproof tent. Good practise for the summer I suppose. Felt quite good trotting up to assembly with a full bag - 6 pints and a tent dripping on your face every 30min or so to wake you up evidently a good recovery method.

Orienteering 1:34:48 [2] ***** 11.24 km (8:26 / km) +453m 7:01 / km

SL:9.6/450. Winner DuncanA 76:00 (125%)

Expected nothing from myself after yesterday, got a bit more than that but not much. Thoroughly enjoyed myself though, especially in the nice bit.
Got a bit lucky on 2, 4, 5, 24, 25.
3 - 1.5min (felt like more), too high initially, not paying attention - always find open areas in green difficult.
9 - no real plan and poor direction leaving 8. Was in a big valley and knew where I was but was overly cautious - seemed more open than map suggested. Overly hesitant as I tip-toed my way towards the circle. 2min.
10 - Had (only just) caught Dan 2min. Managed to fudge it from the AP, ending up too far W. Heard sirens ont he road so made the joke they were coming to lock us up fro criminal orienteering. 1.5min.
15 - pathed it but overshot my turn-off (mistaking hillocks) then overshot the control (1 min).
19 - too high (20s)
20 - scrappy all through on a TD2 leg (30s)
22 - poor direction out of 21. Poor compass. Got a bit lucky. 40s
23 - Went in too early (whay!), 30s
26 - Was OK the dropped to lower bunch of trees and had to regain a lot of height. 2min

Poor direction out of controls, a bit sloppy in the circle and shoddy compass. Still not looking at map enough. Put it down to tiredness ;) Mark2 said I was moving quite well considering yesterday. Well, better than Malley at least.

Running - Road 17:18 [1] 2.98 km (5:48 / km) +27m 5:33 / km
shoes: Mudclaw 265

shuffle back to the car with Dan. Thankfully a gentle downhill as legs starting to feel it now.

Good warm-up around the footy pitch - 1 lap steady 1 lap easy x6ish.

Running - Trail race 1:17:34 [5] 11.95 km (6:29 / km) +996m 4:35 / km

44th. Winner: Tom Addison 01:07:57 (114%)

I felt strong but not very quick nor, now I think about it, fresh. Took the middle line once over Mouldry Bank - should have tried to stick with Steve B really. Corny and Mark Roberts came in from below but Mark soon disappeared as I settled in with Noel and Corny amongst others. Pushed the pace every now and then but it was to stick with them not break away - when you're on form you dictate the pace of a group but today I was dancing to their tune. Went past a knackered Crickmore and fairy Mal.
Cruised my way away from the group with Corny across to Swirl Hause. Put a dig in up the Prison Band (passed PeteyH at the bottom) but there was quite a gap to the group ahead. Went through Little Rob on the good running (he didn't make it look very good though) off Swirl Howe but was on my own - a Tod guy not far back but no-one to work with. Could see the Mark R/JackW/VicW group about 2mins ahead but suffered a bit up and around Brim Fell. Got reeled in by quite a few and suddenly Gaz Briggs was with me and pulling away up to the Old Man!
Knew I'd have to severly fuck up to lose places from here. My line off was OK at the top but then ended up in the quaries - great fun scree bit but slow after that and Corny popped out from the right. Thankfully it was good running to the finish. Passed a Horwich guy on the miner's track then Tim Ellis and Achille Ratti bloke after the bridge. Finished just shy of a storming Vic Wilkinson. She's a class act and while it's never nice to be chicked I'll probably be further behind the ladies records at other races.

7min quicker than 2011. That was my first Lakes race, the end of Uni and the start of real life. Can't complain but am expecting a bit more of myself over the summer - I should get fell fit, just need to make sure I don't get too knackered.

slept:7.5 shoes: NB580 v2 Red (2)

Took Alf out for a shake-out around the Sedvegas fell wall after a solid 3.5h in the car. Cracking evening. Glad I have no need to use the Cheshire stretch of the M6 again -nightmare!
Great scran and a couple of beers at Adam's neighbours after. Was good and declined the gin, but it got to past midnight without noticing!

Note
slept:8.0 (rest day)

Day much smoother than anticipated. This is what happens when I'm in charge. However have had a few headaches in the last few days - never normally get them, but not really getting in the way.

Also cows: dangerous bastards! Give me a sheep any day. Mmm, sheep.

Scored a beautiful lob (5-a-side goals) but otherwise really not up for anything

Running - Road 36:01 [2] 7.12 km (5:04 / km) +64m 4:51 / km
shoes: NB580 v2 Red (2)

Knew I needed a short run today so ran around Keele. Alright but how the guys get 12 miles around here, they must know something I don't.
Feeling very lackadaisical and cba'd at work and it's pervading the rest of my life currently. 6 days (although tomorrow almost counts as 2)

8x600[2min] @5k pace. Well, Seb's 5k pace. All in 1:49/50 (72s laps), feeling comfortable except the last which drifted out to 1:54. Guys did 12, Kev's kindergarten did 6. I stopped after 6 for a toilet break (early race-week fig roll loading) then did the last 2 but legs had started feeling a little heavy.

Thinking about a 10k a week on Sunday, see where winter has got me.

slept:8.0 (rest day)

Ummed and ahhd about a day off. Decided that, legs feeling shot all day, I should get out for at least 25mins. However trying to coax an ancient fermenter into working (it didn't) until 8 put paid to anything but the weekly shop. Legs feel better now though so rest day doesn't seem too bad.

8 days.
