slept:6.5 shoes: X-talon 212 (2)

Headed up to Sedbergh despite feeling a bit rubbish, but quickly decided that racing wouldn't be a great idea, so joined Rhys for an easy trot around with Alf and Crag. Actually felt OK, but know that such an unrelenting race would have killed me for most of next week. That said, just getting round in OK shape would have sealed Pennine the team prize with Ad in 4th and Wardy in 9th. Oops

got a bit shitfaced last night. Oops, writeoff of a day, but worked the hangover away with a wee walk around Chatsworth and 2h sleeping in the car. Felt like a proper dosser.

Around Dovedale with Dave. Steep to start with. Quite easy as didn't want to tire him out too much before he went off on honeymoon, but was a bit on the shattered side on the latter hill.

4th. Winner: Cam Taylor (40:17, 106%).

Christ on a bike, I forgot how fast short runnable races go out at! Paul Butler and young Jack Willis set the pace with me, Ian and Cam in a pack 40m back, until Dan Middlemass slammed through us after a km. Hit the steep climb and went quite well up it - Cam and Jack were away but a shoe-lace had me close enough to Paul. Thought I might gain some ground on Cam on the flat after that, but he's been working on his flat speed and I didn't have much freshness in my legs after the weekend (and yesterday's long day), so was working pretty hard for not great pace, shown by Ian catching me up on the out section (as Paul eased away), but I got ahead on the back and pulled away on the last descent - even had time for the fastest forest dump ever as my guts were in turmoil - all done in about 3 seconds! (was knackered when I arrived after work so maybe ate a bit too much to get my sugars up).

Endurance not too bad, and I can get a bit of speed back (not that my races until the end of Sept really need it.

Running - Road warm up/down 8:40 [1] 1.66 km (5:12 / km) +15m 4:59 / km
shoes: X-talon 212 (3 - 2013)

good to catch up with a lot of people

Completely bolloxed after taking an age to get to sleep (maybe until 1am?) and a 5:15 alarm. Managed to get some naps in during the day, but also piled a load of toast in not too long before heading out.
Easy around the barrage to see how the slight niggles from the weekend were. Alright.

slept:8.0 shoes: NB580 v2 Red (1)

Out with BMHH as I had to be in work afterwards. Small group but nice to see people as not been for ages, made me realise how stupid (and lazy) I was not getting out, even for just monday runs, when I was feeling tired over the summer, as running with company would have kept me going much better.
Anyway, bit quicker than expected after a few ran well at Darlo 10k yesterday, but a nicer more off-road route than normal. Put in a few faster sections every now and then.
