checking the leg out after a lie-in. A bit sore when moving but not bad at all now (wound has scabbed over). Left leg a bit heavy as it's been over-used the last couple of days.

once I get moving leg is OK (when walking). May try a slight jog tomorrow - the hole has become a dint. There doesn't appear to be any underlying damage to muscle, tendon, ligament or bone. As such once the wound closes a bit more I should be back to speed fairly quickly

Leg stiff but OK when walking. I'm expecting it to be OK for Jukola, but maybe a good job I've been put on the baby leg!

trotting around trying to find the descent route. Turns out the one marked on the map isn't the best way down anyway.

Running - Trail race (Ossy Oiks) 39:42 [4] 8.84 km (4:29 / km) +306m 3:50 / km
shoes: X-talon 212 (3 - 2013)

3rd. Winner Paul Butler 38:49 (102%):

First short race in a while and I could tell. Lungs felt good but legs were a bit on the heavy side, understandable. Got to the top of the hill in 7th, into 6th (past Dan Middlemass) on the runable descent to the road, and 5th (Charlie Stead) on the loop near Cod Beck. Didn't lose too much ground on the steady drag back up the hill. Once onto the descent gained ground on Ian and Mike Jeffries (who couldn't descend on a stairlift) very quickly and straight into 3rd. Paul was away in 1st, but was gaining quickly on Cam when I stacked it on one of those rough bits of NYM forest where the forest becomes extra rough, drops off and becomes a track. Cramped up in left leg here due to funny landing. Took a few seconds to rub that out, minced down the first part of the next descent before getting into my running again, finishing within 10secs of Cam. A really good race between the top 7.

Couldn't red line it going up hill but moving well elsewhere. A lot of people fell where I did, and whilst most got away with light grazes on their right thigh, with the speed I was carrying I've got a harsh graze there, and a small hole below my R knee. Should heal OK without further attention (I hope!), but may be a bit too stiff and swollen for Ennerdale this weekend. The leg may be as well ;)

In 5 years this is the first time I've fallen (that's not the fault of a damp stile at least!)

nice easy run out round Ayton way with Esk Valley. Went to a lot of areas I know via little paths I didn't. Bouncing up hills quite nicely, it's nice to do this as by the time I reach them in a race it's hands on knees time. Cracking evening with the bluebells out in force.

boobs out down the river. Alas they were only mine. Although in Teesside that;s probably an improvement on the average. Stopped for a few stretches as legs still a bit heavy, perked up a bit after 30mins, as per.
