Running - Road 10:18 [1] 2.1 km (4:55 / km) +3m 4:52 / km
slept:6.5 shoes: New Balance M849

Couldn't drop off to sleep last night after a nap in the afternoon - need some good sleep ahead of BOC.
Jog to TRP to meet the Durham Contingent.

Orienteering (White Horse) 1:29:16 [3] ***** 10.38 km (8:36 / km) +444m 7:05 / km
spiked:27/34c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

8.6km/440m - White Horse and Hood Hill Black.
All in all, despite feeling as though I was mincing about through the terrain (rough, muddy and slippery) and being very hesitant on a lot of legs, I seemed to hit most of my controls quite well, kites popping up just when I wanted them to. Pleased to get round sub-90 (just),4.5mins down on Duncan and Peter (who did a fair amount of dicking around by the sounds of things) when I was expecting to be a good 15mins down. When I felt as though I was really slowing down and making a meal of things from 20 onwards I didn't actually lose much time to Duncan.

Bearings were generally better than previous (when needed), still need to be really careful as a few went awry (downhill to 4&27) or were very lucky to spit me out without really checking them throughout (2&29), but short-distance rough bearings seemed more solid than normal.
Save being left at 4 and unable to match the map to ground at 6 there were no real mistakes, just hesitancies (lots of them - took a good 30 seconds to work out my long-leg plan, then went and changed it - for the better - soon afterwards!) and getting stuck in rocks. Still finding picking up enough info when I look at the map difficult mind.

Running - Road warm up/down 5:58 [2] 1.32 km (4:32 / km) +15m 4:17 / km

Orienteering - Urban race (Easingwold Urban) 32:28 [3] *** 7.26 km (4:28 / km) +21m 4:25 / km
spiked:22/29c slept:8.0 shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

I kept telling my legs to go faster today, but they didn't want to respond and I was putting in a fair amount of effort and not getting much from it - the week has obviously just hit me.
Controled through the intense first section, then when I wanted to open up from 8 onwards I got the above response. Missed a ginnel to 12 so had to go round, 25secs? Was also ponderous through 16-21 around the market square (including the most well-disguised entrance to a passage ever). Took a too-wobbly line to 23 as well.
Tim got me by 1 second, but we were both nearly 40secs down on Carl Edmonds.

Running - Road 25:13 [1] 4.83 km (5:13 / km) +33m 5:03 / km
shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

Around town after with Tim. Had planned on a trot around Cod Beck and Arncliffe, followed by some moor (you see what I did there?) bearings prac on Scarth Moor on the way home, but whilst I want to run body says no.
9 PM

S&C 10:00 [1]

Was debating an evening jog but got well into planning BC once I'd had a nap and the next thing I knew it was 9 and time for some food.

Running - Trail 18:44 [2] 3.52 km (5:19 / km) +121m 4:32 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

Around Flat's Lane then up the hill to Eston Moor

Orienteering 31:34 [2] **** 5.02 km (6:17 / km) +46m 6:00 / km
spiked:7/10c shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

Some bearing-type practise on Eston Moor (read Strensall with brown lines).
Good fun on a nice evening, although maybe should have looked up a bit more. Some time lost once in circle working out where the kite would be if there was on, but generally bearings were OK.

Running - Trail 30:32 [2] 6.06 km (5:02 / km) +134m 4:32 / km
shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

Around the moor then back. Lovely place albeit small, look forward to some kind of sunny evening O on there at some point in the future!

In this week's epic tussle Work>LIfe in work:life balance.
Glad to get it out of the way this week, as Evening Fell Races start up next week. Time to see if I can catch that damned (16-year-old) pigeon!

gotta love utility of the UKCup in seeding start lists.

Running - Road 19:26 [2] 4.4 km (4:25 / km) +13m 4:21 / km
slept:6.5 shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

A damp evening at a 4-stage relays at Hardwick Park in Sedgefield.
Tired after 3 long days at work. Headed to Tesco as I was hungry and loaded myself with some extra raceweight. Once I arrived I was told I was on 1st leg so not great prep.
Around the course a couple of times.

Running - Road race (Neptune Relays, Sedgefiel) 8:48 [4] 2.55 km (3:27 / km) +12m 3:22 / km
shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

1st Leg in the pissing rain and harsh wind. For once BMHH had managed to raise a strong 1st team, with me off first handing over to Andy (on the way back from injury but a sub-34 10k I believe), Kev (solid) and Gav (quickly improving, 36min for 10km). As a club I think we were only missing Gary (normally just ahead of me) and a guy out in Afgan, but as it was a 4-man affair that didn't matter too much.

Course was mainly path around lake, with some twisty bits, some muddy bits and a ramp to finish. On tired legs and full stomach I dug in to finish 2nd, 10secs or so down on Durham. Feeling fresher I'd like to think I'd be on his shoulders.

Followed in by a 13 year old from Crook who finished 3rd in the mini marathon on the weekend - a kid to watch out for!

Durham blew the field apart on leg 2, with Andy dropping just behind Crook. However they'd front-loaded and Kev got us into an easy 2nd for Gav to maintain ahead of the fast-closing Sunderland. Gav was closing in on Durham (suggesting they'd front-loaded as well) but the gap was too big.

There was only about 20secs between the times of all our team. I was quickest by about 11 seconds. Consistent.

Running - Road 13:10 [2] 2.68 km (4:54 / km) +1m 4:54 / km
shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

a warm-down including chasing Gav for a few hundred metres.

Running - Road 1:00:45 intensity: (45:45 @2) + (15:00 @4) 14.3 km (4:15 / km) +45m 4:11 / km
slept:7.5 shoes: Asics Afforest

10km with BMHH, legs feeling heavy but perked up a bit towards the end of this bit as the pace went up a bit.
Then 4km at 1/2 mara pace on me tod. Averaged 3:43 - this is 2secs under my target pace so why do I think it's only OK on heavyish legs?

was debating 5km but stomach said no.
