Running - Trail race (Clay Bank East) 37:48 intensity: (3:30 @1) + (9 @2) + (9 @3) + (7:59 @4) + (26:01 @5) 9.08 km (4:10 / km) +226m 3:42 / km

Knew this would be poor but just settled into it. Was in 7th up the first hill and down to the bottom of the second, but just didn't have anything to push on up it. Managed to drag myself up only losing 4 places, but it was such a nice day, with Bilsdale looking so crisp and lovely I didn't really mind. Managed to up the pace a bit on the descent from Urra moor but not by enough - was a bit frustrating to see the head of the race within easy touching distance if I was 100%, but again, nice views. Took a place back on the steep descent to the forest track for what I think was 10th.
Cracking day, shame I couldn't have a battle for the win, but it's nice to see I can still put in a good effort when not feeling great. Still got 2 bottles of wine though!

Opted out of XC in the afternoon - think this was enough to shake me out of my stupor!

Hit up Whitby in the afternoon - how legs can ache after no concerted effort for 6 days is always a wonder. The 199 steps left me a bit gasping.

Running - Road 33:06 intensity: (1:44 @1) + (10:44 @2) + (14:41 @3) + (5:54 @4) + (3 @5) 6.57 km (5:02 / km) +25m 4:57 / km

I thought the cold was diminishing at work. This thought was wiped when 3 people walked into the lab to comment on the pungent ammonia smell I'd just created but couldn't smell.
Took a while for hr to settle down today - bout 20 mins.
Def going to race the fell race on Sunday. If I feel crap it'll be a counter that may be needed but could be replaced. Will leave a decision on the XC until after though.

Felt gash this morning, better at work but not going out today - Pizza and Poker it is.

Running - Road (endorphine) 40:48 intensity: (4:39 @1) + (5:14 @2) + (25:15 @3) + (5:07 @4) + (33 @5) 8.24 km (4:57 / km) +22m 4:53 / km

Had a pretty filthy (one stage below Stinking) cold today, making keeping a sterile field and my pecker up difficult. Light trot with a few short sprints thrown in seems to have done the trick in perking me up. Ran with my hr reading on, mostly as expected, but at the end it shot up to 170even though I was jogging - maybe because I was holding a poo in

Swimming 36:10 [2] 1.5 km (24:07 / km)
rhr:40 slept:7.5

Started off well the slowed a bit.
Fair amount of people in the pool but not quite as bad as last week. Wished I'd forgotten my goggles though, as I kept on catching glimpses of the whale-ish couple groping each other sur le table...
6 PM

Running - Road 47:12 intensity: (20 @0) + (27 @1) + (2:22 @2) + (15:13 @3) + (14:56 @4) + (13:54 @5) 10.73 km (4:24 / km) +48m 4:18 / km
ahr:160 max:198 shoes: Asics Afforest

Felt easier than hr suggests - tough day at work and swimming upping it a bit? as I felt quite comfortable cruising around with a few bit of honest effort thrown in.
Got a boot bag for my troubles yesterday. Timing - most of mine are a bit on the grotty side now.
