Warm up/down warm up/down 9:26 [1] 1.89 km (4:59 / km) +51m 4:24 / km
ahr:149 max:173 slept:6.0 shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

not a great night's sleep, just feeling tired in general.

Running - Trail race (Guisbrough 3 Tops) 1:09:05 [4] 14.43 km (4:47 / km) +514m 4:04 / km
ahr:173 max:208 shoes: X-talon 212 (1)

So once we returned to the actual start it turned out the was quite a competitive field, what with Mike Fanning and Charlie Stead being in attendance. I lead up to the woods (i.e. <1km in) but could only stay at the same pace as the others kicked on. Settled into 6th place with Cam in sight. Gained a place coming off the topping then stacked it into a pile of mud infront of some bikers (these shoes are getting a bit slick now). Cam and a Hull bloke had pulled away a bit more by now and the elastic was broken. I trotted back in 5th place.
Unfortunately my get-up-and-go had gotten up and went today, Cameron acted as a conduit for my youthful enthusiasm as, at 16 he makes me look old! A name to watch out for.
5th isn't to be sniffed at, especially when the organiser gave me 3 bottles of wine with the words 'you didn't have a very good run today did you?' 2nd Senior after Charlie Stead in 2nd, so points points points!

Running - Trail 1:27:15 [2] 15.14 km (5:46 / km) +506m 4:56 / km
ahr:153 max:190 slept:5.5 shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

Went to Parkrun to volunteer, I wasn't really needed.
Then drove out to Guisbrough to have a recce of tomorrow's race route. It was pretty well taped save the one in the wrong place which I checked out adding an extra 600m or so to the route. Plodded along not feeling too perky or great after a late one. Glad I'm not in Scotland as I'm looking forward to a cracking afternoon nap!

ahr:161 max:206 slept:7.5 shoes: New Balance M849

Out on the south of the river through the Durham Uni campus, over the Infinity brodge, through the town centre, up and past the Train Station to Oxbridge then back with a loop in Ropner Park. Quads a bit tired after yesterday but shook themselves out.

Running - Road 6:07 [1] 1.11 km (5:31 / km)
ahr:128 max:159 slept:6.5 shoes: New Balance M849

out to Billingham Bank

Running Intervals intervals 31:10 [4] 6.2 km (5:02 / km) +100m 4:39 / km
ahr:164 max:208 shoes: New Balance M849

Lamp-post pyramids - 4,5,6,7,8,10 and back down.
Felt good and easy up to #7 on the way up. After that it was a case of trying to maintain the pace (which I managed). The last 3 were tough.
Started after the group so I had people to chase. Always got to the end first even with some late starts.
tough session even with the long recoveries - the slope isn't enough to let up on but the resistance gets to you.

Running - Road 21:11 [2] 4.26 km (4:58 / km) +15m 4:53 / km
ahr:152 max:186 shoes: New Balance M849

Back via a pit-stop at the forum and Greenwood loop.

Note
slept:6.5 (rest day)

After the rather harrowing 'Manual/Kinetic Handling' it's time for a rest.

Well it is a rest-week anyway.

Running - Trail 1:01:08 [2] 11.71 km (5:13 / km) +310m 4:37 / km
ahr:156 max:188 slept:7.5 shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

EV Headtorcher from a parked-up Bank Foot (NYMAC must have been out as well).
Out along Greenhow Bank to Bloworth Crossing, down the Incline (quality reps hill!) and back though a rather muddy Battersby Plantation. Basically out on the top, back along the middle of the bank. Nice.

Note

to be honest I needed that football result yesterday. perked me right up after a rough 6 weeks or so, looking forward to some good winter training with some good racing thrown in every now and then.
5 PM

Swimming 30:00 [1] 1.1 km (27:16 / km)
slept:7.5

So I'm not going to do core work on my own in my room, and I have 90mins to kill between work and BMHH so swimming it is. reasons: 90% core, 10% vanity.
40 lengths in blocks of 10 then a few extra, time ish. All but 2 were breast stroke, will take a bit of time before I'm used to being back in the water again.
Shaun did twice the distance in the same time. I'm still the better runner though...
6 PM

Running - Road 51:10 [3] 11.29 km (4:32 / km) +33m 4:28 / km
ahr:162 max:205 shoes: New Balance M849

10km with BMHH at a half-descent pace, then 1km to the back door at work (forgot about the closer north gate) for an hour in the lab as our night-shift is away for a couple of weeks and bacteria don't stop! Experienced a Parmo (local takeaway delicacy - flattened breaded chicken with creamy sauce and cheese on top) afterwards. Nice, but I'll report again in the morning.
Felt good generally but legs felt odd in new places after the swimming

Turns out I finished 8th yesterday, very pleasing! 2mins down on the winner and 23secs down on the bloke I beat into 2nd place at Viking chase.
Even with a standard squad (i.e. not very stong - next counter was 40th) we managed to beat New Marske (club of Ricky Stevenson; top 10 at the National 6-stages) in the club comp.
