Note
(rest day)

decided against the race - I doubt I would have enjoyed it much after last night and felt I could do with a bit more rest after the last week. 2 years in a row I've missed it now, next year...

Running - Trail 33:53 [1] 4.07 km (8:20 / km) +377m 5:41 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

Steady and stop-start out to the Wool Packs via Grindslow. Ash sounded like he was giving birth

Other Sport (Kinder Sports Day) 40:00 [1]
shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

Egg and spoon (2 laps)
Frisbee (comedy dropping - was bound to happen after stating that women can't catch...)
3-legged/back-to-back race. Teamed up with treb, owned the first, close 2nd in the next after we fell in a bog and Sadlambert got away.
Grough Football (mainly 'keeper)

Running - Trail 19:21 [2] 3.53 km (5:29 / km) +15m 5:22 / km
shoes: Muclaw 333 (3)

and back down, including a pootle off Grindslow. Not easy with a big bag!

knacked now, time for a sleep!

Running - Road 1:03:25 [2] 12.24 km (5:11 / km) +272m 4:40 / km
ahr:157 max:195 shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

Out with Danger, Magic, Hobbs and Dan, Rivelin and Coppice. Finished through Bole Hill and Bates St. to get a bit more climb and over the 60mins.

Need to make sure I reign myself in tomorrow - don't want to overdo it before Sunday - although judging by how legs felt up Bates it's going to be a struggle to the top of Golden Clough!

Note
slept:7.5 (rest day)

Unfortunately 11+ hours of Lord of the Rings got in the way. After drooling over runnable forest in the first one-and-a-half it was a bit of a struggle - seems Mordor isn't built for Orienteers, but Osgiliath would be top of the 'fantasty urban' list if there was one.
Too much climb in Minas Tirith.

Running - Trail long (Go Hard and Run Home) 4:20:07 [3] 42.9 km (6:04 / km) +1052m 5:24 / km
slept:6.5 shoes: Adidas Kanadia TR3

For the last 3 years I've been meaning to run home, but it took persuasions from Danger, plus the fact I cease to be a student on Saturday, for me to get my ass in gear and do it.

Set off at 9 (ShUOC time - needed to drop some weight), picked up Dave then headed out along the top of Rivellin, GC, Conduit, Pole and High Neb. Here we cut across Bamford Moor via the Glory Stones (not very glorious) before hacking through bracken to get off Bamford Edge. Bit too right so ended up having to do a sneaky tresspass for 100m or so. Up-tiddly-up Win Tit, which was a bitch. Then along to Crookstone where we had to don jackets as a hail-storm passed over - thankfully from the west so we weren't too exposed. Cut above Ringing Roger to the Edge path, managed to pick out the quicker line to Grindsbrook (first time in a while, hope I remember it on Sunday!). Path to the Woolpacks where we went a bit more in terrain. Up to 636 before dropping off Low End, a bit of gate-hopping to avoid the bullocks crowding the gate (must be something about Wednesdays sending cows a bit mad!), down through Tunstead, Bowden Bridge, CC, Hayfield, Sett Valley Trail (add on 300m out and back to get Dave up to the Marathon) before a final stagger up the hill to home-made Elderflower Cordial and epic pasta.
Weather was mainly good apart from a bit along the S edge of Kinder. Watch managed to stop itself for about 1.3km around grindsbrook, so added 8 mins onto the time. Legs didn't feel great this morning but I managed to plug on. Didn't feel great uphill and Dave got away fairly easily.

Good day out with good company, good start to a summer hopefully including longer runs (which hopefully won't be solo, needed to be dragged along a bit today!)

Pleased with the time we managed. I'd cautiously mentioned 4.5/5hrs, thinking the latter, so pleased to keep up a half-descent MM pace throughout (out for 4.55, so maybe 30mins 'leisure time')

Bike 26:59 [1] 9.25 km (20.6 kph) +130m

Bike 26:05 [1] 9.81 km (22.6 kph) +137m

And back. Never realised how much slower MTBs are than RBs - I kept getting stuck behind traffic lights when Ash sailed through.
Nice easy day ahead of tomorrow's shenanigans...

Running - Road 38:45 [2] 7.56 km (5:08 / km) +172m 4:36 / km
ahr:155 max:188 slept:8.5 shoes: New Balance M849

out to the stairs and back, easy.
Was going to head out for longer but some aches in my left leg - hammy and calf, so tried to stick to the top of the hill (though garmin suggests I didn't do a very good job... http://connect.garmin.com/activity/90616849 )
