Event: white rose

Orienteering race (Helsington Barrows) 1:22:10 [3] ***** 9.9 km (8:18 / km) +315m 7:10 / km
spiked:18/29c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

A burn-up for the last day and I had nothing. Was hoping to get the nav right, but was way too south on 2 (1.5mins), dicked around on 12 (2.5mins) and 26 (3mins) - the latter 2 due to the 'scattered trees' symbol and undergrowth. However, I also managed to make mistakes on really easy controls - 15, 17 - and my inability to look at the runability of the ground lost me time when leaving 3 and entering 18. Not running quickly at all and nav was way off at times, but good at points.

Orienteering race (Caw) 1:38:12 [3] ***** 9.0 km (10:55 / km) +470m 8:39 / km
spiked:10/18c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Started well to 1, and was happy with my nav into 2, even if I took a slow route through the bracken - high and to the right was definatly better. 5-6 I oversimplified and took a long route tto the right around the marshes- no need to do so. The long leg across Caw I opted to go North. Excecuted it OK, but it wasn't very easy running and a long slog with no-one in sight. Lost 2mins on 9, too low, and failed to execute my plan to 12, dropping way too low - poor RC anyway. Muffed up 13 by 4mins. Well knacked anyway after the long 6-7 leg.

Running - Trail long 3:35:00 [2] 22.5 km (9:33 / km) +1800m 6:50 / km

'rest day' #2. Parked on little Langdale pass and ran with Sarah and Gaz. Pike of Blisco, Crinkle Crgas, 3 tarns, then dropped down to Lingcove beck and down Mosedale - an area of the lakes there is no need to visit - to Cockley beck between the Wrynose and Hardknott passes. Gazheaded back over the pass whilst Sarah and I fought our way up Grey Friar. Then headed to Great Carrs and I headed for home via Swirl How and Levers water. Long, tough day. Sarah was beasting me up the hills.

Running - Trail long 2:31:00 [2] 21.0 km (7:11 / km) +1300m 5:29 / km
shoes: Inov8 RocLite 320

Impromptu rest day run with Treb and Anal Cherry, all in varying stages of hangoverness, thankfully I was pretty fresh. Headed down the road to Bowmanstead then went vertical up the the Walna Scar road, then took in Brown Pike, Buck Pike, Dow Crag, the Old Manm, Swirl How and Weatherlam (the later on me tod) before heading back down above Yewdale fells to Coniston. Nice.

Orienteering race 1:33:07 [3] ***** 8.1 km (11:30 / km) +410m 9:10 / km
spiked:12/25c shoes: Inov8 Oroc 340

Today I used a thumb compass for the first time, and it wasn't really the area to try new things. It was also muddy as fook by the time I got out there. I enjoyed being out in the rain and ming, but was only really happy with one leg (1-2). Orienteering was pretty gash.
