Warm up/down warm up/down 35:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

bit of a jog along the racecourse in the morning.
Then a fairly good warm-up around assembly/Car park and on the track to the start.

Orienteering race (6Day1: Dalrulzion) 1:22:47 [4] ***** 6.4 km (12:56 / km) +345m 10:11 / km
spiked:15/22c shoes: Asics somethings

Overal pretty scrappy, but to be expected on the first day. A big error at 15 somehow (5mins), and a bit of following heffalump tracks to the wrong control at 19 (2mins) Otherwise slight misses (past the control before doubling back) at 1,7+18. Crashed through the dark green to 12 (long leg) instead of taking the obvious open running right next to it, but had fun anyway. 49 sec run in - 2 behind hartmann, equal 2nd with ralphyboy.

Running - Road race (Baslow Robin Hood F.R) 41:15 [4] 8.5 km (4:51 / km) +274m 4:11 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

Muddy course, which made up for how dull it would have been had it been dry - a Hippo would have been at home on some bits! Once I'd got past the crush at the begining I managed to get into a good pace and where I was meant to be in the race. Passed Ron Fawcet (my marker before the race) at about 2km. Lost a bit of ground 'up the hill' after the 1st road crossing and had Andy Moores in my sights, so set him as my target. Passed a few people and didn't get passed much, apart from at Curbar Gap, where about 5 came past me!? Stuck with the pace on the flat (but a bit behind) then caught a lot of them back through the rough decent through the woods. Passed Andy, then forgot about the last hill. Slow here but managed to pass a bloke and stick with lanky ginger bloke, passing him and a few others on the rapido downhill and road.
Felt like I was going quicker than just under 5min/km! But felt really good throughout the race. Am normally in about 50-60th in a field like this, and I managed to get to 31st. - I'm now at the level of the top M50s in the peak!Next target - Colin Lynch!

Warm up/down warm up/down 23:00 [2] 3.5 km (6:34 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

Scouting the finish with Dave and, as I was back early enough, a nice warm-down around Birchen Edge with Nails, Dave, Gilwotcha and J

2x500m loop in ponderosa off 5mins. Was going to do more but felt rabbish sprinting, and was 6 secs slower on the 2nd rep than the 1st, so called it a day.
There's my sprint-finish training done!
