Just what I needed after a few days feeling a bit off, reasons for which vary from The Heat (and 'sleeping' in it); body and mind still recovering from getting properly Ambrosed last weekend; and the adjustment to being offered a new job that, whilst not starting immediately, does see me move from 'scientist' to 'manager' and getting dropped into meetings where I understand nothing. It will at least allow more remote working and so, in the near future, our dream of relocation to Cumbria.

Wedding suit shopping and finishing the drive home.

Good week. Had a bit of a worry on Monday but got myself back on track mentally and feeling confident about getting through DB and hopefully if I can do that well what will come of it will come of it. It's big but doesn't seem quite as overfacing as it can sometimes do.

Managed about half the total distance and 2/3rds of the climb in a 7 day period which is about as specific I'll get. A fortnight in Scotland early August will add to that but that was my main big specific week.

Main aim now is to keep consistent training, keep on top of any niggles, keep myself well fueled and (most importantly) not get Covid. The main risk factor for this is my Stag do.

Western Fans out and backs. Felt naff over the first lump but pretty good running to Fan Brycheiniog. Met a guy just below the summit who was covering all of day 5, so ran with him all the way to Fan Fawr for a good few hours. Made me keep it easy before putting in a bit more stick on the way back where I was feeling pretty good for the most part. Satisfying at the end of a 100+ mile/11000m 6 day period.

Bitty day heading south , Pumlummon and bits of the elan valley on the way to the Brecons. Slow getting started, got caught in Machynlleth market day so stocked up on carbs in the shape of Welsh cakes and mega scones.

The 2009 (!) OMM far too long ago for me to remember the EV more than baby's heads, still plenty of tussocks but also handy dragon trods.

Xtalons. Good feed yesterday and a bit more looking after myself so felt perkier today.
Ran from Penmaenpool to dolgellau, bus up to the power station then run back over the rhinogs. 3rd time over some of this but always worth a reminder, time can be saved by not constantly checking the map which I was doing today.

No line between the Rhinogs made itself evident in the mist. Again a case of get down as best I can and I'll land on it eventually (hopefully not from the top of a crag)

Tryfan, glydderau, look at the top of the descent to pen y pass (decided that if I lose the line it's doable on an MM freestyle) and back up, Devil's Kitchen, y garn.

Nice memory lane remembering when we used to scrabble about on Tryfan and idwal slabs etc. Whatever happened to that (pre)-teen rock rat? Today I was all 6s and 7s, did not find the rocks easy. Made it up Adam but too chicken to jump to Eve!

Cracking sunny day and yomping about ok considering tiredness from weekend and drive down. Must remember that even when I feel like I'm going nowhere I do actually move OK.

Much better today, felt much more on it and like I was moving with purpose and sort of racing. Less shithousery today (though still started over Glaracuntingmara) and good fun linking together nicer bits of the lakes. Bit of an error coming out of 2 getting stuck in crags bellow the Borrowdale line, then managed to get cragfast on Fleetwith pike near the end when my latent orienteer picked a sneaky route my active fellrunner couldn't execute.
9 mins down on Phil today which is good considering a more runnable route, he was top 10 at Ennerdale. Feeling much better. Ready for a week yomping about Wales

33km/2600m. Much of which included some of the most shithouse climbs and descents around the Borrowdale locale.
I felt really passive today, moving ok for most but never really on it line-wise and times where I definitely felt like I was just mooching about, especially on Glarafuckingmara at the end. Quite surprised to only be 1min down. Maybe lost 5min on nav and 5 faffing with kit/Shoes. ~5.30 was doable for my OMM best but good day out, finished feeling ok and resolved to pull my finger out a bit more on day 2

Again felt pretty naff all day, smashed an entire large banana maltloaf, hula hoops and bombay mix in traffic on the way over and started perking up. How I can be underfuelling, the amount I eat normally, and generally pretty healthy amd varied. Did run out of Ferroglobin tabs last week and wondering if they have been keeping me on an even keel since I heavily reduced my (not every excessive) meat intake.
