Bilsdale +. A bit grovelly on some climbs but moving OK on the flatter bits. Good 4 week chunk of mileage and climb and putting load onto tired legs. A down week now then a bit more of the same, maybe with some more tempo stuff thrown in to try and keep some speed endurance going on top of the aerobic base.

This week' s challenge: try and break your pb on a race you've done >2 times in the last 5 years. PB for Roseberry Topping is 12.16. This was bloody hard work, the chute was dangerously loose and shit and this is proof that I need the potential of a few bottles of wine at the finish to get it all out there.
Need to get some descending confidence back. And have an easier week next week.

3x Ingleby incline tempoey reps with Pete.
First rep felt great and like a maintainable pace - nearly a minute quicker than my best from 2013 and not too far off Pete.
Then I was about 40 slower on 2, and pulled the pin 1.30 into 3. Legs goosed from the float downhill and the last week. Also should probably do some more specific hill work.
Really enjoyed building mileage and working on the base. Feeling good tired and today maybe a bridge too far. Will come back to this fucker though!
Pete was moving and managed to edge the KOM off GB junior mountain runner Ben Bergstrand on his final rep.

Where else would you expect to see a Helm and Ambleside vest on a Wednesday night?

Round the moors from Gribdale with special guest P.B.Ray. good to run with someone else other than Hannah for the first time in 10 weeks. A cracking evening and managed the honest pace/effort you only seem to manage when with someone else.

Went to Cod Beck to walk the dog/meet my sister. Planned this so I could use the hooning south westerly for a good run back on the Cleveland Way. Good to cover the first unknown bit of the Lyke Wake as well.
Felt good until turning into the wind at 3h15. Maybe could have stayed out longer to get a 5h one in, but this weekend is more about compounding the mileage than one big long run.

100 miles for the rolling 7. Slightly jarring L knee (downhill) to start but was fine after 1h30. Out for 4h15. Think the weather may have affected the bari-alti, 1600m seems a bit much.

Mile High Club on Captain Cook's monument. Managed a distinct climb each time, though a bit of overlap on so e but mitigated this as much as possible. Got the popular Gribdale climbs done early then worked my way through the longer ones on the other side - helped by a tailwind - before the shorter ones to take me through a mile and towards 6000'

Felt pretty good on half a bag of wine gums, a club and 500ml water. Cloud and a breeze helped. Ran up the final steeper climbs more than I expected and was feeling very good and like I could go on. The last climb was a drag but I think this was more psychological, knowing it was the last one.

This week's challenge : visit 2 trigs, Selfies at each (ergh), fastest pace wins. Roseberry Topping first then back past home to the random bush trig. Given the amount of flatter running I had I think tha pace should have been a bit quicker. Law of diminishing returns at the end, maybe could have stayed out a bit longer amd averaged a bit quicker but a 69 was enough.

Rough aim, depending on lockdown release and sensibility, is to try and squeeze in a BG in July so I can try and recover for some racing in September and October. The long term aim is get myself in fettle to do myself justice at the Dragon's Back in September 2021, so I need to start experimenting with going longer and back-to-back
