I'd like to say that I'm tapering and sharpening ahead of the defence of my Duddon title, but it's more 25% tired, 25% stressed and 50% cba.

Easy with Han. It took a heavy dose of sugar to get me feeling perky enough to get out the door. Probably on a sugar crash after last week (3 words: bottomless Wilf's cakes) but felt ok once out.

Been a bit demob happy the last few weeks and need to get some structure and discipline back - more so I can just feel good in the hills and enjoy them more.
L ribs a bit sore from when I failed at indoor bouldering on Friday night.

Hrm and barometric altimeter on this fancy watch are currently just random number generators. Tbh the watch says my hr for this run was 124-167 avg 141, which seems about right. So why AP has changed this to avg 161 with a max of 224 is beyond me.

Bike 47:06 intensity: (34:13 @1) + (4:01 @2) + (5:28 @3) + (3:24 @4) +335m

Bought a 'cross bike so I can 'crosstrain. Great fun.
16.9km bashing about the wood trails.

Have worked out altimeter issues (wrong settings). Suunto hr makes more sense than ap.

Note

Spending the next week putting out/bringing in controls for the Dragon's back. Looking forward to exploring some new bits of Wales but also seeing how the event is put together and how it's raced/run/survived. Hopefully plenty of decent plodding will rebuild my base and hill strength quite rapidly. Or it could break me. Also hopefully I'll put the checkpoints in the right places. Now that would be embarrassing.

Har a nice day out around Buttermere Sailbeck. No racing just trundling along having fun. Did give it a big of stick on the final descent just to see what there. Will see how body responds in next few days, but climbing will need some work - reckon Wales will sort that.
Good beer, ice cream, and chat in the sun after. Passed the BMW i8 convention on the way in #tourons

Went to the seaside for ice cream. Crashing waves but not much wind. Includes some walking to avoid rousing Bullock interest.

Feeling generally pants when running but hoping it's just lack of any discernable fitness and will rectify as I build up slowly.

Note

Bloods come back clear, as I expected.

GP says that I have been very lucky to have only suffered 1 mild cold a winter for the last 10 (20, 30?) years and that 4-5 viruses a winter is the norm. Now I'm pretty certain that unless the post-code lottery extends to your ability to pick up viruses (I mean, I could well be working in a 'sick building' and renting a 'sick house') that this is bollocks but then again maybe I am just wasting their time.

Anyway, slow build up it is and will keep an eye on metrics.
