Wharfedale 3 peaks - Great Whernside, Bucken Pike and Birks (well, trig, couldn't be fagged with the out and back to the spot height summit that is 3m higher. Lovely day out, still found plenty of bog!

One of the lab group had instigated a grudge-match between CBE and MechEng. A 7 person relay around the 2.2km Endy P Parkrun loop. Went along and had a blast out in 7:30ish. Then played a bit of rounders with another friend before heading home,

Roseberry topping. 2nd, 40-50s behind Aiden RIgby.

Felt tired from yesterday afer about 30s. Well down on AIden and summitted just behind Lee Kemp from Totley. However had a much better descent. Good fun, apart from the difficulty breathing on the early part of the climb

Went direct up and down (in past have gone around on the up). As it was I was 5s slower to the summit than 2013, but 14s quicker coming down. Given that I feel I'm descending slower (especially on more technical/steeper descents) this is good mentally.

Barrel Inn. 5th, +2 on HArry, +1:40 or so on Sav, +1 min on Bond, +40 on random Shettleston lad.

Good solid effort. Kept it fairly under control for the first 25mins or so then pushed on on the return up William Hill. Legs felt a bit heavy after the last week but pleasing to show some form.

I managed to mess up my entry form so may have won the first lady prize. The binary constraints of gender are placed upon us by society and the patriarchy.

The FRA want a wider array of ALs outside the Lakes for potential use as champs races, so Noel in Pennine came up with 'Groovy Kinder Love'. Burton invited me for a long run so I thought we'd have a look at the offering.
Now Noel is a specialist in shorter faster races. But it's obvious from this he has a devious streak in him. This race is a bit fiddly but it has everything - long runnable climbs; steep walking climbs; gentle fast descents; steeper, more rugged ones; easy obvious path routes; less obvious small trods; off-path heather bashing. If the mist's down finding some of the CPs could be interesting! It sticks mainly to Pennine territory, but has brief excursions to more natural Glossopdale and DP territories.

I think there's about 3 RCs up to Kinder Low. We took a sweeping right route, but muffed up the CP as I found the underpath I don't take that often and fancied running on that.

Anyway, 30th September if anyone fancies the race. I doubt I'll run as I'll be back late from holiday that morning, but never say never. I was wondering as we went around whether Noel designed the course with me in mind. Maybe a bit too much climb.

Easy around Burbage, Padley and Longshaw with Dan, refreshing a few lines. Found a gap in the weather so most enjoyable.
Wearing in a new pair of dancing shoes. My 10th(!!) pair of Xtalon 212s. Maybe I'll convert to Iroc2s at some point but I didn't find them as comfy and I've worked out how to make Xtalons last an acceptable length if I can get them for <£60.

Headed out to watch Pilsley 'fell' race as Craig was having a bash. Legs felt very good, though this may have been the pint I had before setting off. Did 6x~10s strides. Fantastic unbroken rainbow above Chatsworth.

Chatsworth would be a fantastic XC course.

Sandy Heys uphill TT.

Within a few seconds of last year so fairly pleased with that - again base fitness is there so time to build. Maybe should have got pushing a bit harder on the final slope but do find going all in hard; maybe should have gone with tomtom's early pace - he ended up about 15s quicker than me - but wanted my body to ease into it as felt a bit tired on warmup.

Turner Landscape, English champs 42nd.

Nice day out if nothing else, lovely route this. Legs felt blocked on any uphills and slow to recover on the downs, expected somewhat after Borrowdale and the last week. AT least my downhill wasn't too bad and I managed to ward of a complete capitulation.

Eccles Pike. 1st

After 3 2nd places in a row I was wanting a win. Thankfully the fell gods smiled on me and no racing snakes turned up so I got it comfortably - 1:20 or so ahead of Dave Bethell. Craig pushed me on on the earlier running to start and I kept the effort level honest up the hills. Cruisey relaxed descent (apart from dodging the oncoming runners.
Nice trophy with some names on it (Ron HIll and John Wilde included), goes back to 1928. Alas it is solid silver so it stays in a box in someone's cupboard for the rest of the year.
2s PB. Fastest time up and an OK time down considering I wasn't being pushed.

Borrowdale. 20th, +31 on Ricky/Carl.

Knew by the bridge it would be a tough day out but I dug in and eventually got moving a bit better once past Glaramara (hate that hill). The group I wanted to be in and work with were ahead by the school and the pace to get to them would have been too much. However I kept plugging away and picked off a few people, climbing fairly well on the 2nd half of Gable when I latched on to Pup Harris to keep me going. Used Ben Bardsley for the same reason going up Dale Head though Simon Harding came through at a rate of knots.

Nice day out though and enough of a breeze to keep cool ish. Kilian can fuck off about Dale Head being a nice gentle climb though the twat!

High Neb and Headstone, then a few strides. Pack.

Got to High Neb in well under 18 minutes for 4km on an easyish run - maybe I'm absolutely flying?! It then took me 30 mins to work out I'd started 2 mins further down the road than I normally do. That'll explain it.

Still feeling quite good mind. Craig said I was looking good on my strides - though that may be my new haircut.
