S&C 10:00 [3]
slept:8.0

Note

Spent the day getting a good mount of revision done. Will go for a run tomorrow. maybe...
Meant to be going to a band/club night a coursemate is putting on, but it's not my kinda music and I can't really be bothered. May nip down, or may just say I'm ill... could do with getting used to early nights/early waking up...
1 of the housemates has already left because his exams have finished. Honestly, it's not even as if Medicine is a real subject!
spent a bit of time looking at the maps from EOC. Some of those areas are fucking crazy!

Running - Road 52:00 [2] 5.44 mi (9:34 / mi) +162m 8:45 / mi
slept:7.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Felt a bit poo, and full from all the junk I've been eating, so decided to go into rivelin to work up an appetite.
It's worked a little bit. I still feel a bit poo like, but I'll manage to eat something.
Felt desperatly unfit, which is odd seeing as I wasn't feeling too bad 2 days ago.
Think I'll have a few days resting and NOT EATING SHIT.
like that'll happen!

anyway, Picture of Rob's mum here...

Note
slept:10.0

The idea of intervals sounded like too much effort, so I decided to go to Tapton and watch McAvoy films and drink cheap Cobra beer with Papa Eugene.
My hayfever tablets are drowsey, so after waking up at 12, I promptly fall asleep again at 3ish. meaning revision isn't great...
Eaten far too much today.
All the housemates will have left by the time my exams start, so I'll die of boredom. Or, I may pull my finger out and go for a few runs/do some serious revision!
It'd be an odd world!

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
slept:10.0 shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Bit of damp hare and hound with faz and danger. 8 majjigers, some easy, some hard, some involving some swimming. Still, was good to get out of the general grind that is sitting around doing nothing at this time of the year. Many nettle stings etc.

Running - Road warm up/down 20:00 [2]
shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

there, back, and in between.

Running - Road 16:00 [2] 2.0 mi (8:00 / mi)
slept:9.0 shoes: Asics somethings

Run down to arts tower, then half a loop around crookesmore. Couldn't be bothered with the whole loop as am lazy. Did enjoy the inversion layer on Conduit road though...

Running - Road hills (Arts Tower Chalenge XII) 2:23 [5] 0.1 km (23:50 / km) +90m 4:20 / km
shoes: Asics somethings

Arts Tower Challenge XII
Wasn't going to bother with this, but Danger told me I was an evil person if I didn't turn up, so I wolffed down an apple by means of sustinence and desided I'd go for it.
Once again it was tough, and we all raced together this time! But I felt better, so ran all but 1/2 a flight of stairs I think. Danger pulled away at the start, but I managed to catch him up at the end,1sec behind him and beaing my own pb by 7 seconds! (This also means I dragged the guy behind me up, so he beat his pb by 25 seconds!)
Considoring the lack of food and water in me, felt good! (if you can do that when doing the ATC...)

Note

Tried out the Paternoster Shuttles on the way back down. They're easy. Only did a few mind, before my feet didn't like the jumping. Dave and I suggest a Paternoster "Shuttle Relay" - 2 people in each cabin, one goes out and back, taggs the other, who has to do the same before the cabin goes through the floor.

Running - Road 17:00 [2] 2.16 mi (7:52 / mi)
slept:5.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Run from home to Station to meet with Fazza to go to YORK!

Running - Road warm up/down 7:00 [1]
shoes: Asics somethings

Yog to start with Rob

Orienteering 15:00 [0]

The 'TrailO' part of the York City race. A 10 second penalty was added to your time for the actual race for every mistake made. I made 3, including the one most people made (the one with no controlin the middle of the circle), so I had a 30 second penalty, meaning faz was 20secs ahead of me.

Orienteering race (York City Race) 39:35 [4] *** 4.9 km (8:05 / km) +10m 8:00 / km
spiked:14/19c shoes: Asics somethings

York City Race (time includes 30 second penalty)
All in all, a good race. One large mistake on number 3, where I ran a fair way past the hedge with the control (but the more experienced guy behind me did the same, but realised his mistake a bit quicker...!) Other than that, needed to be lead into number 5, and there was a bit of fannying at 9 and 14, but probably only lost a max 10 seconds at each.
Once in the roads and 'Snickleways' (15-19) though, was pretty slick and made no mistake. Although the Huge Manatee meant I cut up a few grannys, especially between 15-16. Caught Fazza up en route to number 19, which was nice
Could have run quicker, but the first 8 controls involved a lot of running and was warm, so that tired me out a bit. 3-4 and 6-7 were a lot longer in real life than the straight line!

This is what methinks I did...

Running - Road 38:00 [3] 4.79 mi (7:56 / mi) +64m 7:37 / mi
slept:10.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Slept 'til late, then watched the F1, felt sorry for Suttil, but glad Hamilton managed to win. Did a bit of work. Wasn't going to go out, but looked at attackpoint and thought 'sod it', so went on my Fulwood route which I haven't done for a while. Had a bit of a rest half way as quads and shins were a bit achy, so did some lascivious Vic Reeves stylee leg rubbing. There was no-one around. good. Running style seemed to degenerate into that of an M80; hunched, funny leg movement, stumbling. Role on York! Shit on Faz!
hehehehhe

Saturday May 24, 2008 #

Note
slept:7.5 (rest day)

A day of rest after yesterday. legs feel alright!
All so I'm raring to go to kick faz all over York on Monday. yessah! :p

Running - Road (Long Run) 2:38:00 [4] 15.0 mi (10:32 / mi) +281m 9:57 / mi
slept:10.0 shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Woke at 9, decided it wasn't worth going to the last 2 lectures of the year as I was pooped, so went back to bed until 12, when I had beans on toast as Fule.
Met Danger and Cap'n chaffe at Hunters Bar at 3 for a good long run. Up to the top of Porters Brook, v. quick because of Danger, then onto the mines. Dave went ahead because I fancied being able to make it home at some point, as did Gaz. Gaz and I went onto Burbage to the white stones, then along the road to Burbage Bridge. Along Stanage edge, with Dave a white speck with legs about 5mins/half a mile ahead. Cut up to the Pole before heading back down the right side of the Redmires Dams. Back through Wyming brook and across the Golf Course before cruising back through Crosspool, past Ranmoor Rubble, before a quick run back to the house to show off to students. There were none.
15mile. Guessed about that much. Was good, felt good. Glad I got the extra sleep though. Was bloody warm up Porter's due to cotton shirt, but was very glad of it once on Stanage and on the way home.

warm up/down 6:00 [1]

Thursday May 22, 2008 #

Note
slept:7.0 (rest day)

PROPPER rest day. Chilling in lectures and 'lab session' (a.k.a waste of time)
Came home, bit of banter with the housemates before dinner with a pint of Bombadier. Mooch off to SingSoc, debate mooning people on the way back to circuits (don't bother), then lotta food, beer, more beer, then to Papa Eugene's for the new LeSacPip album and an old Frank Turner one. Just gonna watch a bit of Peep Show now before bed. Looking forward to last 2 lectures of 1st year being over tomorrow, before hitting the peaks with Danger
Can't believe 1st year is over already!

Running - Road warm up/down 6:40 [2]
slept:7.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Run to goodwin with Danger and Fazzingbum. Well, I say 'with'... :p

Running - Road warm up/down 7:00 [3]
shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

bit of running before needing a wee and coming back. Fazzingbum circled me like an overprotective cougar whilst I did what had to be done. At least it wasn't 2sies this time...

Orienteering (Loxley Common) 55:10 [4] 4.64 km (11:53 / km) +200m 9:47 / km
spiked:14/18c shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Spring Cup, last round.
The only previous time I've run on Loxley was ShUOC training before BUSA, and I cocked up royally and got very lost and irritated. This time, still took a bit more effort than I was willing to put in to understand the map well, but other than that felt I'm making a bit of progress with this navigation thing.
Forgotten how I got to number 1, but spiked it OK when I was in the circle. Spent a fair 3 mins fannying around (well, not really around: in the same corner of the map as) number 2. Other than that, only 15 and 16 were minor fannys, with 17 being a bit more silly. 18 was nice and easy though, as I'd run past 14 and found that earlier on the course :p
Otherwise, thought that my route choice was pretty good all considering. Fairly clean on 14/18, but apart from 2+17 I found the others OK.
Just enjoyed running, not too keen on the wooded rocky bit...Felt OK as well.
Campaign to put the burnt out moped on the map!

oh yeah, minor point... beat Fazzingbum I think. tehee. OK, he ran poorly, but I was hardly slick...

Note

haha, just noticed that, with my rudimentry calculation of climb (i.e. contour counting) I've done 9.47kms at both Eccy and Loxley the last 2 weeks. Consistant? hehe.

I await becoming Schorah's protege now...?

Hedge Jumping 1:00 [3]

*giggle*

Running - Road 1:20:00 [4] 9.08 mi (8:49 / mi) +226m 8:11 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics somethings

Headed over to Rivelin, up to near the junction with Manchester Road via the ponds, up Lodge Lane (bit of a stop at Fox Hagg to admire the rest of the valley...) Then down into the Porter Valley and back through the parks. (Got caught a bit short near Wire Mill dam, so had to dive behind a holly bush to partake in Alfresco pooing. Quickest I've run in a while to find a suitable place! :P )
Decided I was going to do this properly, work on my Stamina a bit, So only stopped when traffic was being silly and for the view. Apart from that (and the poo..) kept going at a fairly good pace. Nice run and all, felt like I could have gone further quite happily.

realise I've not been stretching as much as I should have been recently... i.e. not at all.

Running - Road warm up/down 20:00 [2]
slept:6.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Run to goodwin, and warm up there

S&C 40:00 [3]
shoes: Asics somethings

a fairly poor circuits attempt... maybe due to the tin of beans consumed 90 mins before we started. Although it seemed that Fazza and Danger had been the ones consuming the beans... :$

warm up/down 5:00 [1]

Sunday May 18, 2008 #

Note
slept:9.0 (rest day)

a proper rest day. Slept in late, rattled off my report, demolished a tub of yoghurt, just getting ready for Indiana Jones now, then probably bed... Felt a bit shit all day.

Saturday May 17, 2008 #

Note
slept:7.0

OK, so I've been doing nothing for the past 4 days, but it has, in no way, been rest days!
Today was the denouement of the big 10-year anniversary-of-SingSoc project, and I must say we put on a pretty damn good show of Fanshawe's African Sanctus (odd man, odd piece of music) and Orff's Carmina Burana (without a doubt the best piece of music written in the 20th century). Spent from 11am on Saturday until 1am on Sunday out of the house, mainly in the church, but a bit of time in the pub for libations :)
It's over now - I have Monday and Thursday nights back: I can work and I can train! Whether I do either, however, is a different matter...

Friday May 16, 2008 #

Note
slept:7.0

Boring busy day. Tired. Dullest lab session ever, with no-one really knowing what the hell we were meant to do. Rehersal in a bit. woop.

Thursday May 15, 2008 #

Note
slept:7.0

Busy day, and will be for the next 2 days and all, what with rehersing. But after that, there's just one week of lectures in the way.
legs felt a bit tight this morning, and the back of my right heel felt odd, but after a fair amount of walking around everything feels grand.
Just want to get out now. Sods to work etc. Looking forward to getting home for a bit after exams and showing my face at MDOC events and hitting the peaks in a fairly big way... Oh, and getting my food cooked for me. Then back to Sheffield for lab placement and more training as there'll be nowt else to do... :D and the Aviemore. Hopefully...

Running - Road 1:00:00 [3]
slept:7.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Run up to Eccy woods with Nails and Danger, then a steady jog back with Danger.
Realised where I go wrong with my training - I keep on stopping, everyone else doesn't. That's why I prefer running with people/in a Race, as there is no insentive to keep running when I go out on me own. Uphill was blergh, downhill was fun, running on road worked today compared to monday! Bottoms of quads felt a bit tired..

Orienteering (Eccy Woods) 44:00 [4] *** 4.2 km (10:29 / km) +60m 9:47 / km
spiked:15/16c shoes: Asics somethings

decided that I would do the medium course, as was a bit tired and didn't really want to have danger run past me after 50yards/in the right direction as I circle around control 1.
Medium was good. Apart from a bit of a cocking about at 5 was a (by my standards) very clean run, and at 5 I managed to work out where I was thanks to contour detail! Unheard of! haha. Pleased with navigation into 4,9,10,15, took a roundabout (i.e. zig-zag) route to 12 - trying to save the legs from holly as I was wearing shorts. Hardcore...

Didn't recognise Eccy woods with all the foliage! Used to it being bare and able to see everything...

Note

I want one of these bad boys:
http://picsyard.com/Domestic_Ant_Eater

Doubt I could take it for runs...

Running - Road warm up/down 10:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Running - Road race (Burbage Sjyline) 51:32 [4] 5.75 mi (8:58 / mi) +366m 7:29 / mi
shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Felt pretty good, especially on the nice gentle downhill bits where I could turn on the taps. Quads felt a bit urgh at one point, glutes similar at another, but by the end felt good as shinsplints decided not to raise their head :D

Monday May 12, 2008 #

Running - Road race (Trunce #3) 30:24 [4] 4.25 mi (7:09 / mi) +167m 6:22 / mi
slept:8.5 shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Trunce #3. Maybe set too quick a pb? Felt ok, but the road stretch killed me a bit - couldn't run very fast most of the time.

Running - Road warm up/down 15:00 [2]

run most of way to goodwin/warm up/down

Sunday May 11, 2008 #

Note
slept:8.5 (rest day)

Felt good after yesterday. Couldn't be bothered to go out, so stayed in watching F1, working whilst watching the TV, and watching Anchorman and Indiana Jones. Looking forward to the Trunce and Burbage in the ext 2 days.
Going to take the trunce very slow so I have aneasy target next time :p

Running - Road (long run (with walking..)) 2:30:00 [3] 12.1 mi (12:24 / mi) +337m 11:25 / mi
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics somethings

Just wanted to get out somewhere more interesting that Porter Valley, and see how I fared over a longer distance than usual.
Porter Valley -->mines -->Redmires Reser -->Wyming(?) Brook -->Redmires Road -->Crosspool -->HOME!
Knackering. Walked most of the length of the Golf Course, and there was a fair amount of resting/walking elsewhere. Still, felt goood.
Even managed to take some Danger-inspired (or is that mocking?) photos and all.
Was considoring a bus from Lodge Moor, but I decided to man up instead.
For some reason, thought it'd be a good idea to strole across reed-beds, forgetting that meant bogs. My shiny white trainers are now no longer shiny and white...

Note

mmm, now there's a way to relax after a run - Pizza from Nibbles, a few large bottles of continental largers, and 2 cream cakes. mmmm

Friday May 9, 2008 #

Dancing 20:00 [2]
slept:6.0

A bit of ceilidhing avec Fazza and Danger etc. It seemed to go wrong an awful lot today...
I like it when you can have a pint during exercise.

Wednesday May 7, 2008 #

Note
slept:8.0 (sick)

Once again, another fitfull nights sleep, only this time coupled with a lotta lotta sweating. Feel OK in the day, but not great.
Would like tp go to Greno tonight, but can't due to concert at the Cathederal later. Oh well. Can't wait until everything is over and I can chillax a little bit...

Tuesday May 6, 2008 #

Note
(sick)

worst night's sleep ever, am sick with something. Would be OK, but I have to be doing singing, and I can't be arsed doing anything. Housemates fucking up the kitchen didn't help...

Running - Road 1:00:00 [3] 6.29 mi (9:32 / mi) +258m 8:28 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Nice Day, Loverly and sunny, bit humid, but because I'd done nothing for the past 4 days I decided to sod the work after spending an hour reading about cancers, put the learning of Dido and Aeneas aside (could be a bad move...) and get out for a bit.
Headed to Rivelin, turned left and headed up to the damn. Ended up back on Long Lane, so decided to head back again, make it a figure of 8 and come back via Bole Hill, Crookes and Broomhill. Felt a bit tired for the second loopy bit - a fair bit of walking was done - but before that felt good.
Also found Nicholas Road! Well, I say 'Road,' it's more a little track. But it's down as a road! So that's NIcholas and Barber Roads now. (Y)

ergh. Have to learn things for singing. I hate learning. Gay.

Note
slept:10.0

knacked after yesterday's exertions - i.e. copious amounts of beer consumed. Wanted to get into the peaks tomorrow, dunno whether I will or not... it's meant to piss it down tomorrow I think?

Friday May 2, 2008 #

Note
slept:6.0 (rest day)

mmm. Being rather too hammered off Strongbow means I've had a headache all day. And Beer Festival means it may only get worse :s
Deciding to have a day off as I'm shattered.
Going to get my hair cut methinks...

Running - Road 1:01:00 [3] 7.28 mi (8:23 / mi) +185m 7:46 / mi
slept:8.0 shoes: Asics somethings

From Home to half way along Endcliffe Park, then up to the top of Porter Valley. Felt OK. Not too quick, but OK. Stopped at the roads for a bit of a rest. Got heckled at the one between Endcliffe and Bingham on the way back for resting. Nearly ran under a car on Endliffe Vale road on the way out. Nice and sunny, but a good breeze to keep cool. Not that I need anything to stay cool...
Really need to get my hair sorted... (as in cut off...)
(Not too sure about that amount of climb, but it's what mapmyrun says, soit must be true...)
