Note
rhr:46 slept:9.0 (sick)

So it wasn't just a sore throat, back in full on sinusy virus mode. The slow build up was well meaning but evidently pushed it too far too, especially on Wednesday. Sickness buddies Ash and Dan also a bit ill now as well, we've been pretty well matched since late November. Whoever brought it to SPOOK has done a right number on us!
I've been to the doctor and blood test results are awaited. I'm not expecting them to be abnormal so will have to see about what to do next week. The constant relapses and a bit of fatigue (nothing too bad mind) I'm just going to assume I'm post-viral (I've allayed this fear a few times in the last months as I didn't want to be alarmist.) Even if not best to treat it as such and will need to be super careful over the coming months. More marshalling to come it seems!

In other news I can deffinitely recommend Charlie Spedding's autobiography.

As planmed after 5 (five!) days in a row. Bit of a sore throat (not as bad as precious mind) and left heel (so nowt to do with previous R achilles issues.)

An opportunity to put the last couple of months behind me and see where my base is at. 2 laps on the coast so a bit breezy on the 2nd and 4th quarters. Lost a bit of impetus between 2.5-3.5km (got on the back of a couple of guys including Leon Foster, but then tailed off too easily) then a guy called Wes got me going again. Good to feel the taste of blood at the end and the time was irrelevant.

Pathfinding. Perks of being slow up and down is it doesn't take much distance to spend an hour plus out.

Three sisters and back on the contour. Had some snow but thankfully was driving for the worst of the weather. Can tell Paul's got a good base in him over winter but I was moving better than last week.

Slow and steady, strong and stable.
The 6th chapter in Charlie Spedding' autobiography "From last to first" is called "the beer drinker's guide to sports psychology". I read it for the second time last night and there's some useful stuff on self image, mindset, target setting/measuring and aiming for 'optimal' not 'hard' training, observations he made whilst in a bit of a rut 10 years into his top-level running career at 28. Some food for thought given in the next 5 years he went on to a Bronze in the 1984 Olympic marathon.
