Dancing (Skanking) 3:00 [5]

Some hard-core skanking to one step beyong. Managed to get the knees up to the opposite nipple and elbow, and also gained a skank-induced elbow injury...

Cocking about (kilt-lifting) 30 [5]

Danger and I ran the gauntlet in lifting up nails's kilt. Twice.

Other Sport (SPOOKvsShUOC Footy) 45:00 [1]
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

Strated at right-back, went off, came back on. Started 2nd half at centre-back, getting under some of Nails's hanging balls, then came off. Would like to have got back on, but everyone seemed to be doing OK and we won 2-1, so :D. john/kenneth's promise to stud me failed to materialise after our boyzone barracking last night.

Orienteering race (SPOOK Relays leg 1) 33:44 [3] ***** 2.3 km (14:40 / km) +30m 13:46 / km
spiked:6/10c slept:8.0 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

Got to the fence with the leaders, then thought I was to the right of where I actually was. Bit iffy from then on, especially no6. Then out onto the morland, legs were nacked on these longer legs after fannying about on the earlier legs.

Orienteering race (SPOOK Relays leg 3) 29:02 [3] ***** 2.0 km (14:31 / km) +30m 13:30 / km
spiked:7/10c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

Longer legs first, so felt good on them, then into a control pick which, once I'd sorted out number 2 went OK. Took a few longer route choices to save legs from brambley death and keep the legs going.

Orienteering race (SPOOK Relays leg 5) 30:08 [3] ***** 2.2 km (13:42 / km) +30m 12:49 / km
spiked:7/9c shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

Once again, got the longer legs out of the way first, then a bit of a control pick which was a bit easier as was in the crags. Bit of messing on #1 and #7, but bit cleaner elsewhere. However, as me and JT downloaded in an odd order due to mass-starting, computer thiks I ran JT's course whilst punching my controls, so therefore missed all my controls and so retired...

Overall, bit slow, nav head wasn't on too great, let JT down a bit, but good fun overall.

Note
(rest day)

Week of rest and bulking up to (hopefully) overperform in relays and quick drinking...
I'm so damn excited, and I just can't quite hide it. I know, I know, I know, I know I want SPOOK, want SPOOK! (to loose at everything)

S&C (Pilates) 50:00 [1]

not sure how well/propper twas doing it. Still, enjoyed the rolling about on the mat a fair bit.

Running - Road warm up/down 10:00 [1]

there and backish

Tuesday Nov 25, 2008 #

Note
slept:6.0

Somehow managed to spend last 2 days forgetting it was SPOOK this weekend. fucking GET. IN.
Essay done, somhow managed to get near the word target without wanting to. There's dedication. (no piccies mind. no point, worth nowt i think...)

Monday Nov 24, 2008 #

Note
slept:8.0 (sick)

Think I may have sweated most of the illness out last night. Still snotty and headachey, but feeling human now. Just in time for lectures and recording a possible top 40 single. Great. (I'm as excited as a not very excited thing)
No circuits tonight, firstly due to shear amount of snot/sweat, and secondly due to the 1000-odd words I need to add to my essay by wednesday which I didn't do over the weekend as I spent it all in bed/on the sofa.

Note

Feeling much better now (6pm) May be a bit bunged up for the next week or so, but I may yet enjoy the tropical positive temperatures later in the week. Better to have lurgy now than come this weekend. At least this time next monday I'll know I deserve feeling like shit. WOOP SPOOK w/e!

Sunday Nov 23, 2008 #

Note
(sick)

still as rough as a badgers arse.

Saturday Nov 22, 2008 #

Running - Road warm up/down 25:00 [2]
(sick) shoes: Asics somethings

Woke up and felt like crap, but still packed running kit as was determined to run. Once I'd put on my short shorts I felt so much better!
Hacking cough throughout day
EC=>Endcliffe=>Back, bit of jogging about elsewhere.

Orienteering race (Prologue) 22:47 [3] **** 2.7 km (8:26 / km)
spiked:18/23c (sick) shoes: Asics somethings

Just didn't have my head in the right place, so made mistakes and gaffs all over the place. Well off the pace. Good job I'd got all my nopesport points in the bag beforehand...

Orienteering race (Chase) 27:20 [5] **** 3.5 km (7:49 / km)
spiked:24/30c (sick) shoes: Asics somethings

Resolved that I was going to nail myself on this one. Have taken about 2.30 off my time due to problems with the start timing. Navigated much batter, but that is purely down to the fact I know the campus pretty damn well...

Friday Nov 21, 2008 #

Note
slept:6.0

Sounding very healthy today, and unable to do anything. I've got about 300 words into my essay (100 today) and it's pretty much all drivel. Hopefully a bit of mud, fresh air and lack of footy skills later will sort me out...

Running - Road warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Run to Bolhill, bit of footie, escape from horrizontal hailstones back home via Ingrid's for shelter

Thursday Nov 20, 2008 #

Note

Only had a 9am, so stayed in bed until 3pm after last night's internet exertions before toddling down to SingSoc. Eventually felt human again once got home, so stayed up late watching Family Guy.

Wednesday Nov 19, 2008 #

Note

only had 1hr of lectures, but busy all day. Posters about chasing sprint happening are now about endcliffe/campus/parks/goodwin, cannae wait!

Running - Road warm up/down 27:00 [3] 5.4 km (5:00 / km) +72m 4:41 / km
slept:7.0 shoes: Asics somethings

from home to top of Springvale, then down to bottom of Heros. 2 more down in between reps as active recovery, then back home down springvale.

Running - Road hills (Heros) 20:00 [4] 3.1 km (6:27 / km) +380m 4:00 / km
shoes: Asics somethings

Heros. turn back when first person passes you on way down.
rep1. 6.10. 100m from top
rep2. 7.10. 100m from top. Dogged thrice on this one.
rep3. 7.10 to top. Dogged a bit, but was much easier having G to run with.

Don't feel as bad as I did after last week's hills, but that may be as this isn't a sprint. Worth knowing about. I want to know which perveyor of self-flaggelation stood at the bottom and went 'hmm, that looks nice!'

spiked:12/23c slept:7.0 shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

meh. Some bits good, most bad. Won't bore you with the grizzly details, but they were just that. Area was OK in bits, but just couldn't be arsed at times - e.g. long legs. Managed to make some cracking errors though! Some resulted in a bit of fannying around in out of bounds areas. Lack of concentration meant most controls seemed to be a bit bingo. Best bit of the day? after a slog up a bike track, hit the big track ont route to 14, hand on knee, look at map, bend over, cracking fart, bemused looks from those around.
No running into people either!
roll on sprint/stanton moor - at least I'm getting all my mistakes out nice and early...

Orienteering 28:00 [2] **** 2.93 km (9:33 / km) +70m 8:32 / km
spiked:10/14c shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

did the course planned by hoddy a few weeks back. Aim today was to not go quickly, work on nav. This worked at the start but then I got a bit blase and made a few mistakes towards the end. Also took a bit of time checking I was in the right place, what with lack of kites and all that jazz!

Orienteering 41:00 [2] **** 3.32 km (12:21 / km) +75m 11:06 / km
spiked:5/12c shoes: Decathlon Kalenji Kapteren XT

Map from eccy woods spring cup earlier in the year. Only did controls 1-12.
Yeah, made a fair amount of boobs. Mainly focused keeping bettercontact with the map on a few legs. My inability to run in a straight line is a problem it would appear... damn bushes/baby trees!

Running - Road race (7 (William) Hills) 45:36 [4] 10.32 km (4:25 / km) +137m 4:09 / km
slept:8.5 shoes: Asics somethings

Slightly different route as from Gaz's, but different starts make for interesting routes! Started off a bit too hard and let people go ahead once on School rd. Was fun watching Little Rob and moobs confusing the tothers outside the grindstone - was like watching a school of fish all changing direction! Took a few different routes trying to avoid traffic lites, but was quite lucky with them, only ~1min lost, mainly at Washington rd. Ash was with me from pretty much the start until I dropped him on West Street, the cheeky young pup! Neal got a bit lost at Hunter's Bar and oined us. Was moving well on west street, though he was going to be tough competition, but he got a bit confused and maybe took a wrong route around goodwin (haha)? So beat them back by about 2mins. Cracking race. 'parently was upping the pace every 5minsor so, but I didn't feel like I was. Was a bit shagged getting to the end of West Street, but pushed on. Now, to Kinder it on Saturday?..

Set myself a (what I though optimistic) target of 50 mins, so really quite chuffed to have done that time, and also getting my min/km down near 4. Bout 13mins off last year (taking into acount the longer route as well!). Sweet!

Running - Road warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Asics somethings

Note

managed not to get knocked over/knock anyone over! Althought eh kids at the bottom of The Moor were quite fun... when Danger what past he said one had just bailed onto a kerb, pos. due to Ecstasy, so by the time we toddled along there were cops there and kids all over the floor... then again, what do you expect at the bottom of The Moor? Was too quick to notice much though.. :p haha

Running - Road warm up/down 17:00 [2]
slept:6.0 shoes: Asics somethings

run to bates street, long wd. Never felt worse on a wd, one hell of an effort put in evidently.

Running - Road hills (Blake Street) 22:30 [5] 3.6 km (6:15 / km) +252m 4:38 / km
shoes: Asics somethings

12* ~150m, reps of Blake street, which is one helluva hill (mmr sez ~21m of climb per go) (time includes active recovery)
Took the first 6 reps at nearing full intensity, not too far behind danger, then 2 slower as a bit of recovery. Gutted myself on the next 2, beating danger to the top, before he pulled his finger out on the penultimate one, then murdered meself on the final one. Dave seemed too far ahead of me, and me too far ahead of ash, but I got Dave and ust managed to hold off ash. win!
bitch of a session. Legs are gonna feel that tomorrow, think it'll be a slow William Hills.

15,30,45,60,90,60,45,30,15 then back up and down
v. tough session, but felt like I put all I could into it. Had a bit of a slow one on the first 30secs of the 2nd set, but that was coz I burnt up the previous 15 secs. Had to walk on knees near the end of the second 90, but soon got going once I realised LauraD and Zanthe were behind me!

I must say, what kind of cunt has nothing better to do with his time than comment on this? Do others really want this individual to wade in with their 2-penneth? Does anyone on the internet really care? Do I look elite in that picture or what! haha

Blue course - Brambley Hell!
Hit #1 perfectly, so was looking forward to a good run, maybe dropping below the 1hr mark? But the 200m to #2 taking 5.30 mins put payed to that! Wasn't too bad until 14, mainly loosing time bashing/pootling through brambles (I could have taken more roundabout pathy routes. but where's the fun in that?!) Then managed to screw up a path to 15, and ended up looking for the control on a slope facing south, not north, and 200m east of where I was meant to be (Hell, I was nearly on top of #5!) so a good 12 mins lost there. After the page turn (that was a suprise!) was just a bit slow. OK nav wise but now overly cautious/slowed down by brambles. Cocked up 21 thinking I was clever and not in need of paths. slow to 22, but then a slight beast for the finish.
A good exercise methinks. If only it wasn't for those bloody brambles

Cocking about 12:00 [2]
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 'O'

This was all on 1 control as well, probably did a good 5 mins extra throughout the course! 71.54 time - was expecting ~80 after the faff. Leader when I finished was 20mins ahead... goes to show that if I wasn't a tool for 1min of map reading I'd have been really chuffed with the run!
good map, shame about the brambles. Someone was saying it's a good technical area, but there's too many pths, making it too easy. The fact is that with the sodding brambles, you need the paths to get about, and it's not overly technical...

Note

Bugger Bugger Bugger... just checked the splits for today. had about 5 fasted and a few where I wasn't too far off... but both faffs dropped me about 20 places each time. at least it's nice to know that I can Orienteer fairly well at times. 17th overall, that 20min gap is deffinatly doable with more concentration. Well ahead of everyone on any course to the finish :p

Orienteering race (UrbanO) 19:31 [4] *** 2.8 km (6:58 / km) +25m 6:40 / km

Leeds Chasing Sprint Prologue.
Bit of a fanny to number 1 (10secs), but lost less time than others. Pretty scrappy at times - headed wrong side of a building to 5 at first - d'oh! (10 secs) Spent 10secs checking route to 11 at 10, just to make sure wasn't missing anything. Lost concentration at 13, headed right instead of left out of the park (20 secs), unsure to 18 (15secs), massive boob to 20, ran right past gate meant to go through and mistook 1 small stair set for another big one? (30secs)
so yeah, bout 1.5-2mins lost? Moved OK, but not great.

Orienteering race (UrbanO) 21:08 [4] *** 3.24 km (6:31 / km) +55m 6:01 / km
spiked:7/12c shoes: Asics somethings

Leeds Uni Chase
Started 29 secs down on hartman, with people 10 secs behind. Small errors all over the place, and one big one on 8-9 where I lost all contact with the map, but popped out somewhere I'd been en route to 7, which wasn't too far off where I'd want to be. Prob. 30secs there. Had a good race with the guy just behing me, but don't know whether I beat him or not. Took Hartman on the long leg to 4 as he apeared to blow up, but I wasn't moving as consistently fast as I wanted to.
Faz beat me on the finish! But only because as I came in to it there was no kite, just a mass of people, and I was drawn to them, not where the box was... but a guy on another vourse was very impressed with my sprint as I nearly took out a couple of Leeds studes.

stayed in 23rd after prologue. If it wasn't for general cocking about to 9!
