Hike round the model map, very orienteering style map & control placement which was nice. Ankle generally fine strapped, bit grumpy when contouring.

Iced & strapped the ankle, then had a drugged hobble down the hillside with the assistance of a pole, bit better once on the GR10 back to Luz, just treading a bit gingerly on the steeper descents. Made it back in time for breakfast, then spent the rest of the day mainly on buses & trains or seeking air conditioning in Toulouse as the temps approached 40°C.

Big tough day out in scorchio conditions, running and swimming around the lakes below Turon du Néouvielle. Did try for the summit, which was the first 3000m+ one climbed in the Pyrenees, but didn't quite make it. It looked like an achievable 2km & 550m climb from one of our swimming lakes but I gave up below 2800m after a seemingly endless boulderfield scramble left me pretty knackered and under time pressure to get out before a forecast thunderstorm (which never actually eventuated).

After another swim and refuge refuel stop we headed down the mountain, but after an afternoon of sketchy boulder hopping I twisted my ankle on a fairly innocuous stretch of trail, then after some stream cooling did it again, which made for a very slow and painful final few km to camp.
