Kutztown Fool's Run 5K
9 AM

road run 33:09 [5] 5.0 km (6:38 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Excite 3

A new race for me, partially through my alma mater. Started on the road between campus and the fairgrounds, went up the hill to main st, along the side of main st, down through the academic side of campus and then out for a loop through each of two housing developments. (One of these is apparently a retirement community, and very cute. Would love to come back and live here one day. The other is off-campus student housing which was very notorious for parties.)

I'm surprised that I was faster than my race of a few weeks ago. My legs felt like lead blocks, my gut felt weird, and I never got into any kind of groove. I felt like I had lots of walk breaks, although I guess none of them were super long. It didn't seem like there were that many people in the 5K (there were a TON in the 10 miler that went out earlier) so I think I might be pretty far down in the results. But it was still a decent day for a run.

Thought about hanging out in town for a while, but then saw that apparently students are celebrating St. Patrick's Day (a week late) this weekend. Something that once might have been fun, now something to be avoided. Instead I came home and took a nap, then went out to dinner with family for my birthday (also a week late), but then my Mom got sick (she thinks she caught it from someone at work, not from the food) and now I feel cold and can't get warm so I hope I'm not getting something too. Blaaah.

Undecided on what to do tomorrow, with Quail Hill cancelled (imho, prematurely) and just not feeling the massive climbs and distances listed for the Avalon courses. May do a long walk if I feel ok instead of going anywhere.

Well, it was at least 15 minutes and around a mile. I got in the car and drove off without stopping my app so the actual numbers are a mystery.

Was supposed to be a run day.... yeah...
Would have done more of this too, but it started acting crappy and dumping out in the beginning or middle of songs so I just stopped.

10c shoes: Inov8 O-roc 280 Red

DVOA Hibernia - Green

Decent run, lost a tiny bit of time on 4, but went right to everything aside from that. (6 was slightly mishung, but I could see the bag from where I was standing just outside the woods by the actual feature.) And probably lost a little time fighting through thorns or rocky ground. Most of the controls were fairly easy. It was cool to get into some of the lesser used parts of the park again. Did a good bit of actual running on roads/trails, and still well behind people I used to be able to beat. I have a lot of work to do.
